How does a person post pictures or attachments?

Use a service such as photo Bucket and upload the picture to there.
You then have 3 options as to how to make the line needed by the appropriate website you want to post it on.
Then in the menu above shown here in the post box 2nd row to the right side. You have the option to Link it or show it. You enter the appropriate line from Photo Bucket. And it shows below in your post.
Same way to enter a sig picture in your personal information.
Or just download it from your computer also in the same dialog box.

Hi Grampa1,(been a long, long time that I could say that) I tried the Photo Bucket and didn't do so good. I posted a link on another web site and some of the guys replied the ads really got in the way of viewing the pictures. I used the free version and as we all know, nothings free. Although there are ways to tell your story in pictures, I didn't figure that part out. Others seem to have good luck.
I do it all in Windows7 now, just can't post as many at one time. You have to get the photos into your computer anyway, resizing and saving are very easy to do, as is finding the photos you want to post. I replied to Wheels on a thread he started as to how I do it. Hope it helps. Perry
[[[Hi Jim, This is how I do the picture posting from start to finish, using my cell phone and Windows7, hope it helps.
Snap picture with my cell phone/ crop with cell phone(First step in reducing file size and eliminating background I don't want to share)/ Email to myself with cell phone. Open email on my computer, click attachment, click save to my computer, click "save as"(this is at the bottom of my screen)assign picture to my pictures file or a folder in my pictures file, (anywhere I can find it later). I set up a new subject folder to save the pictures to from the emails.
Now, if I'm returning to my computer for a resizing session, I click Start->pictures->open folder where the pictures I want are stored-> Click picture to open in "Windows Live Photo Gallery" -> Click "Edit, Organize, or Share"(upper left on tool bar, this shows all pictures in that folder), -> Double click on picture to open,-> Click on "Properties"(look at drop down and pick "Resize")->, box will open,-> choose "custom" and "max file size" and set to 600,-> click "resize and save". It will be saved backed into the folder your working in with "(new size x new size)" added to the file name. If you want to blur an address, license plate or any thing else, do it before resize with the "retouch" icon(small box with a paint brush) and save the change, then resize.
If you have more resizing to do in the same folder you can arrow to the next picture. Goes fast and is easy to find when you want to post.
NEXT: Reply to Thread-> do your text->Click Attachment(paperclip on top line of tool bar)->"Manage Attachment" box will appear->Click Add Files(small box)-> Select Files(Windows Box opens)-> find your picture folder( mine is Desktop/Owner/Mypictures/folder I'm looking for)-> click small box in upper left corner of resized picture file you want to attach( you can do more than one, don't know how many)->click Open( picture files show up in "Manage Attachments" box)-> Click "Upload Files"(Pictures appear in attachment box in "Manage Attachments")-> Click select "All"(might not need to if they all are checked),-> Click "Insert Inline??" and "Done". Preview to make sure your happy and post.
Anybody know an better way? Perry]]]
Forget all that! This new software we are running makes it really easy to post a picture. Just click on the picture icon in the tool bar section when you are preparing to write a post, select a picture file from your computer, upload it and post it....very simple, you dont have to use PhotoBucket at all. Also, just after you upload the picture and before you post it, if you double left click on the picture itself, a screen will open up that lets you choose the size and page location for the picture. It can be thumbnail, small, medium or large.

Doesn't happen for me. After I select and upload the picture and select "preview post:, I get the picture in a fairly small size and double left clicking only gives me a larger version of the pic (almost like a thumb nail), but there is no size selection - no anything except a larger view if the picture. Example:
This pic is a "600 wide" jpeg which would normally fill about 1/3 across the page.
Here's the same pic uploaded as 400 wide and does the same thing (only smaller).
Haven't yet figured out what I'm doing wrong.

Check the above out. Rich just posted in General Section and it obviously worked well for him by pics he posted in his New Indian thread.
Zook, what you said works great on desktop with Windows 7 & Explorer 10 but not using Surface with Windows 8.1.
Seems to be some compatibility issues depending on Op Sys and Browser combinations. Either way, this software still much better for quality large pics regardless of posting method.
Will tinker more when get the time and see if can figure out quickest way for Tablets/Ultra Tabs with Windows 8 & 8.1.
That would great, the computer I'm on now is windows 8 and my other laptop is 8.1 and both are giving me fits just trying to update my signature. Before this trike-talk sight was updated I had no problems with updating sig nor down loading pic's on here with windows 8, but since things here changed I have problems, also it would be great if the day post was put back.

The Windows 8.1 interface with new Forum software is quirky. But, typical when software debuts and updates coincide with newer Op Sys & updates of them. Software begins and finishes with the Op Sys prevalent when begins which was/is Windows 7 in current case. They dial-in and release for the widest used then tweak/adapt afterward for Older and Newer Windows. Given Windows 8/8.1 heavy leaning toward true touch driven software and applications, software designed for Win7 tends to get a tad "confused" in Win8 environment running in the Win7 emulation mode.
In a nutshell, we Win8 folks just gonna have to deal with the quirks until Developers get around to Win8 adaptations, updates, and plug-ins for existing programs. Definitely not just a TT situation.
Even with the differences and twitches,,, MUCH prefer the new TT version.

Well now,,,, THAT's what "they" always say about Windows (said same for Win2007). The same "they" also always knock MS for having not been innovative and cutting edge since original Windows and Windows 95. Now MS creates ALL New Windows 8 to get in on & be the leading OpSys of the unstoppable Touch Revolution/Proliferation and "they" whine about that. Is it "quirky"- YES. Is 8.1 an improvment on 8.0 -YES. Need more refining-YES. But, Touch Only interface IS the future of ALL Computing and so Win8 is the foundation of that structure.
Actually,,, Windows 8 isn't quirky in and of itself. Neither is the Software/Applications we all use which were originally designed or reached pinnacle under Win7. Issues or "bugginess" are occurring as the two worlds attempt to mesh. Inevitable and unavoidable. Just necessary growing-pains until they both mature together and existing Software/Applications are adapted to live harmoniously in their new Environment. Have seen this same deal 3-4 times over the last 20+ years. If anybody is looking for, expecting and demanding perfection right out of the gate they better hope God starts making Computers, OpSystems and Software.
Same as with this new Awesome TT Forum Platform. It IS Better but it IS different. Change ain't easy and usually danged frustrating. As a rule, the sooner it is accepted, embraced, and learned-the sooner the frustration and difficulty will end.
I want several of you to try posting pictures to this thread now and see if anything is different.

I don't think so or see anything different...
But I'm a Surface Pro Leper with Windows 8.1 simplex
Actually probably best if those of us hang back and out and let you dial-in the Win7 majority first.
No difference, Zook. The only way I can post larger pictures is from Photobucket and removing the check from 'Retrieve remote file and reference locally.
You are right, will hang in there. Getting off the subject, this "NEW POST" thing I don't like is the other day I was enjoying the reads, had to leave after reading only three new post, so signed out and went on my way. Came back...signed on...went into NEW POST and all I got was "NO NEW POST", so I didn't get to read the other new posts. With "TODAYS POST" I was able to come back and finished where I had left off. It would be nice to get "TODAYS POST" back. I've been with this trike talk since it started, I'm not going any were unless I get kick off.
Thank for the info.
Butch
I'm still working on getting the picture posting like I want it. I thought I had it set so everyone could post and view in the same larger size as I can, but didn't realize that my posting and viewing size permissions (as an administrator) were different than yours until I logged out and logged in under my regular member alias that I use for just that sort of testing.
I've checked and double checked but I'm missing some little setting somewhere but I WILL figure it out. You will all have the ability to post larger pictures soon. That's why I went to the trouble and expense of a getting dedicated server and this new software. I love the larger pictures and despite the bandwith requirements, its worth it. Yall bear with me and I will get it fixed.
