    Default Harley ignition tuner

    Hello to all --

    Hope someone can help. A few months ago I read about an ignition tuner that would work with w/o O2 sensors and can't remember the name.

    This tuner supposedly reads the results of each firing of the ignition and adjust itself. If anyone has experience with this let me know as well..

    While the newer systems have O2 sensors already they can be used & should be used in conjunction with the re-tuned ECM. They also can use broad band O2's that have a broader range to read the exhaust gasses. The O2's are the only way the ECM can figure out what the air fuel mixture is & make any corrections. The broadband sensors are not compatible with the stock ECM, but are used with the auto tune system for the DynoJet tuning systems. The narrow band sensors (stock) can be used with that system also. While the O2's are best to use, they can be eliminated. But then the ECM can't tell exactly what it is doing.
    There are both add on boxes that lie to the ECM to make it think the mixture is something it is not, so it will either rich or lean the fuel mixture. And the type that actually reprograms the ECM with a suitable tune for whatever you need to do to the tuning for modifications like intake or exhaust or cams, or just to cool the engine a bit.
    But while the changes are made to the ECM, in either case you should utilize the O2 sensors to let the ECM adjust the tuning as needed while you ride.
    The type of tuning that is best is the ones that re-program the ECM & can be taken off the bike if needed. The TTS Master tune tuner, & the DynoJet Power Vision both do that.
    While many here like the TTS Master tune tuner, I use the Power Vision because of the other features like a monitor & display of all the workings with the engine. Also the ability to do a tune on the bike without a computer once the base tune is installed. The TTS Master tune tuner can also do this with it's latest tuner, but without the monitor screen. Both are excellent tuners, & the best bang for the buck in tuners. But that would be your decision.....
