V8 Hello from Frozen MN

Hello,

As of this fall, I'm new to the forum and world of trikes, having just added a trike to the garage in October. While I've always thought a trike would be in my future as I became less stable or comfortable on two wheels, I really thought it would be sometime further down the road. As luck would have it, that all changed in September. Now you might be thinking that an accident or illness forced my hand but fortunately for me - that's not the case. What really happened is that I purchased four tickets in a Shriner fundraising raffle, one of which was drawn as the winner. The prize? A beautiful 2013 Boss Hoss 'Gangsta' trike with LS 300 engine, automatic four-speed transmission and rear air suspension. I'm still in disbelief!

Wrapping my legs around a V8 engine is not new to me as I've ridden a 350 small block V8 Boss Hoss motorcycle for the past two years, but having two wheels behind me is definitely a new experience. Steering as opposed to counter-steering and not having to put my feet down at stops are obvious differences, but as you trike-riders know much better than I, that's only the tip of the iceberg.

Unfortunately, time constraints and the fall weather conspired to limit me to only two rides and 150 miles in the saddle before winter hit, which gave me only a taste of what's to come and a strong desire for more. Winter is ALWAYS a bummer for us riders that live in the cold North, but this one is going to be especially long and tough on me...........

Going forward there will be a difficult decision to make each time I throw a leg over a ride. Will it be the BH bike or the BH trike? I suspect it will be a toss-up. (I also have a HD Ultra Classic, but since buying my BH bike it's been primarily reserved for long road trips - once V8 bitten, it's hard to go back.)

I'm certain I will benefit from the collective insights and experience provided by the members of this forum - thanks in advance for your assistance! Hope to see some of you on the road sometime.

congrats on the new trike. I can relate on the long winter's wait to ride again as I'm in SE North Dakota. Do like we're doing this year, pack the trike up on a trailer and head to the sunny warm AZ area for a few weeks.

I feel your frustration. I just had my trike delivered last Tuesday and rode it 1/4 mile home to the bike shed.

NOW, we are very much snow covered in Erie, Pa. area. Hoping for the warm days!!!

Hello Mike and welcome to the website from the U.P. of Michigan. Owning one Boss Hoss is a dream, owning two? Almost better than sex. I understand how you feel with the weather, living in the U.P. this year has been a rude awakening. If you have seen any of our past posts, several of the people have given ideas about practice with trikes, I hate to keep saying it over and over again, but if you could use a little friendly advice pm me and I would be happy. If not, ride safe, send some pictures so we can see that beautiful machine.

If only that were totally true. Uncle Sam was very happy for me as well - in view of both sales and income tax being collected on the value. So not quite squat, but a little north of there.

Oh, so you're the one that left that butt print on it................ Just kidding of course......... but I'm pretty confident there were a few more-attractive posteriors seated in the saddle over the course of the year............

Welcome to Trike Talk from an former Minnesotan in SW MO. I can feel your pain, I just got a 2013 Triumph Bonneville, got about 60 miles on it and we got ice and snow here in the SW corner of Missouri. So for now the trike and both bikes sit in the garage. Bad thing is down here we don't have snow to get a riding fix running trails, lakes and ditches on snow machines.

i didn't get to ride it so the butt print is probly not mine. I can imagine it belongs to the first one who opened up the throttle on that beast ! I think my 110 has some torque, that must be one wild ride!
