    Default Bazooka, rake question.

In general, what should I expect for a cost to rake the front of my trike? 07 Suzuki C50 w/Lehman factory conversion. And how do I determine the degree if I can't find any to test ride?

    Spirit-
Lehman does not list a rake kit option for the C50 or Tramp on their site. The do list a steering stabilizer. I looked there because Im not a Lehman dealer and have not heard of a rake being offered. As far as I know, no one is building a rake for the C50s but if I were you I'd contact Lehman or maybe Timm's Trikes for more info.

Motor Trikes turnkey Honda Shadow 750 trike is somewhat comparable to the 800cc C50 as far as trikes go and there is no EZSteer for them either.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you.

I asked the dealer when I bought it about the stabilizer and they said it was just for the C90, so unless that's changed I'm out of luck - again. Nice trike, but I'm starting to seriously think it's time for a change!! Anyone know a surefire way to win the lottery??

    Thanks for your help anyway!!

Default How much rake / how much trail

Ok engineers what is the optimum for tire wear, steering ease, and no shake at high or low speed
this winter i plan on having my front end raked and extend the forks. So how far do i go?
My ride is very comfortable but the steering isn't.

Needless to say their isn't any aftermarket ez steer for mine.

Can you guys help me out?

    Something to ponder

Getting the motortrike kit installed soon. Do I need to rake the front end. Maybe put the tri-glide triple trees on it.

Strongly recommended. Most of the companies say it is not required (I think they are trying to keep the price down for the sale), but those of us that have riden both ways will tell you that there is a sizable difference. PM the site owner Bazooka for a great deal on a rake kit. He's sold hundreds of them to members here and everyone is very happy with them.

Greydog..........run the sucker a while and see how it works for you "damperless". Ultraboy seems to have cured his problem at light-speed (LOL). I do not normally run at light-speed myself, but we will push 90 on that long run back home along the open interstates. Mine just seems a little more responsive than I would like up there around 80-85, not uncomfortable mind you....just a bit twitchy to the point my little wife will ask me why I am changing lanes so fast. She can feel it also and I chalk most of it up to both of us being on a non-raked trike for years. There is this one other thing that Ultraboy and I are considering. I used my stock Ultra forks which are 1-3/4-inches shorter than TG forks and likely a bit shorter than other rake kits. I know some of those kits include fork extenders for the use of stock forks. When I get my forks pushed-out (winter project), my twitch may not twitch anymore. I am also working up the courage to get out in the shop and install the damper and will post any results when I get around to that.

Not sure what you mean Ted. I normally don't use the smiley-faces, but I was happy with VT's comment, and couldn't think of anything else to say....

Ted is saying..."Greydog.....run what you brung" and see how it works. If you don't like it, consider the advice of all us brilliant individuals that have been there before, but do what's best for you. I have ran a trike for over 10-years and never had a damper and never thought I needed one. BUT....you decide. It won't jump off in the bushes without one and will give you plenty of warning before you decide you have to have a damper or not.

From what I have read here-n-there, some of the new TG dampers are leaking and even the replacements under warranty are leaking.

I put a used lehman adjustable dampner on my 03 Road Glide it has champion raked trees, it has seven settings on it you can really feel the difference when you changed the settings it feels like a car I drove that had the adjustable suspension settings from touring to sport, it makes it reel easy steering or really tight. bought on Ebay for a $100.00

    UB

VT said it. I was saying you guys have done a great job of detailing the possible need or not of the damper. I was just saying to sum it up: If you are encountering ANY of the symptoms then try the damper if not you should be good to go without it. Thanks for the advise.

I have one of those 7-setting dampers like Road Dog has......new in the box. It works just fine there in the package, but I have been working on wifely priorities and that girl has a long list of priorities that I have not attended to yet before I can get back into my play-house.
