First trike was a 2012 Spyder RT that I became disenchanted with, when the dealer refused to do warranty repair work on it. Sold that recently, and had our 2013 BMW K1600 GTL converted to a Hannigan Trike. Quite a difference between the two. We live close to the Smoky Mountains and travel mostly twisting roads. The Spyder required a lot of shifting on the twisting up down hill roads, while the BMW requires very little shifting under the same conditions. The Spyder had a electronic paddle shifter which I do miss though, and the electric parking brake as well. Highly recommend the Hannigan trike kit with the big front tire assembly. Also have 1975 Norton Commando, original owner, just fully restored.

Lots of K1200LT/Hannigan owners on this board, but it's nice to see someone with the 1600 conversion.
Have you had a chance to compare the difference between the 1200 & the 1600 in terms of power and handling?
I'd love to ride a 1600 trike, but haven't seen one so far. Been riding trikes for so long that I probably would have a tough time on a two wheeler, so that's not an option.

Post some more about your experiences riding the GTL, I'll bet that a lot of us would love to hear about your mountain rides. Welcome to TT.

K 1600 is my first BMW so can't compare, but it definitely has gobs of power and torque. Chose the BMW because of the comfort it provides for the wife, and the power, etc.
Retired living on the Gulf Coast and moved here to be close to the mountains. Great roads here, 1/2 to 1hr to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Smoky Mountain National Park, The Dragon,
Blue Ridge Parkway, and many other great rides. Got to ride with the Wingnuts Trike club this fall while they were here. 100 plus members located in FL, Larry Goulet, who founded the organization has the first production Hannigan K1600 trike, and his wife was driving her BMW K1200/Hannigan. He could tell you about the comparison between the two. You can find him on Facebook, also the K1600 forum, or through the Wingnuts website.

I would love to see your bmw 1600 conversion. I bet it is one sweet ride. My brother had a 850 Commando in the 70's. It wasan enjoyable ride. Yours looks pristine-good job.
