Can't judge a book by its cover, yes it annoy me also.
I was just reading a Bike Mag while waiting for my shop to warm up and ONCE AGAIN, I read, on the cover, a subject I wanted to look at BUT, when I went to the index there was NOTHING that matched, not 1 word. This is something that has bugged me for years, not just Bike Mags and I was wondering if anyone else found this a little odd & a pain in the azz. Some mags will include a page # on the cover so it's easy to find, but far too many don't and when the index don't even use the same words, it is a pain!!!
Is this a problem for just crazy me or do others find this a pain in the azz??

I have found this to be true for Rider Magazine. I like Rider, have subscribed for years, but they will frequently list something on the cover that appears as a major story inside, when in reality it is just a paragraph or two in the Kickstarts section or the New& Cool. I stopped being annoyed about it when I realized that the main purpose of a magazine was to sell me something including the magazine itself. I realize it is just a way to hook me in and since I have a subscription, well I am getting it pretty cheap anyway.

Makes me crazy, too. Fortunately, most of my magazine reading is done in an area of the house that allows me to sit and patiently look for the article in question...

Out of the 13 mags I subscribe to, I don't recall one time that happening. Maybe it did happen to one or two articles I wasn't interested in anyway so I didn't notice, but of all the articles I was interested in - don't recall not finding it in the mag itself.
If it did happen to me - yes I would be upset - for a minute then I'd get over it and go for a ride.
If I had to downsize my mags, I would keep Motorcycle Consumer News - best mag on the market bar none - no adds - just facts. Then American Iron next best...... IMO.
just for accuracy, in my comment I did not state that I could not find the article, I wrote " I read, on the cover, a subject I wanted to look at BUT, when I went to the index there was NOTHING that matched, not 1 word.".pepper
really no upset to get over, I was just having fun making a comment on a forum I enjoy.
WOW, 13 subscriptions, I would rather save the money & time for fuel & riding time.

I agree! Those guys know their bikes and when they do a review of one they give you everything including 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, top speed, braking distance etc. Other mags under performance usually only give you miles per gal.

Not sure if I have free time or I just forgot everything I was suppose to do.
Retired and highly recommend it.
I think most times the "cover" photo is to encourage the sale of the magazine from the "news stand" and not for us subscription customers. We are going to read it anyway!
