Illinois Concealed Carry

Well this was the first day you could apply for Concealed Carry in Illinois. First off you had to apply for a digital ID so you could Connect to the Illinois State Police. Well I got my ID, entered my ID and my password. Wouldn't take my password. Had to change my password right off the bat.
Got the Password changed (whew). Had to have the right Java Script on your computer. Had to fill out your life history, down load Drivers License, FOID Card, Concealed Carry Class Certificate, Finger Print Receipt, Picture and proof you lived in Illinois the last ten years, and more questions. Very stressful for somebody that has very little knowledge of the computer.
If it wasn't for the wife I probably would still be working on it.

Have one here in Mississippi, was easy 23 years ago.

Sounds like they want to see how hard people are willing to work to get it. Ohio was pretty simple and Pennsylvania was even easier yet. Ohio all you had to do is show Sheriffs deputy the certificate along with the filled out application and some money. They finger printer you, check your drivers license and call you when your license is ready for pickup. Sounds like Illinois is lazy or doesn't have the infrastructure to do it right.

$50.00 for finger printing
$153.33 for License
$30.00 for .45 cal. bullets for qualifying
Lost track of how much for cost of bullets for practicing for qualifying. So it wasn't real cheap and yes your right if you want it your going to pay for it. Oh, forgot all the gas I used getting to the country to find a place to shoot and Targets.

Thats pretty steep, I think I had around $150 or so in the whole shooting match. Even if it was $500 to get going, the piece of mind is well worth it.

I just renewed in December for Ohio and Pa. Good for another 5 years. It was very easy.

As far as I can tell as of yet, No other state is honoring it. What I have gotten off the internet is Illinois will honor other states permits if the permit holder carry in their car only. I know if you had a Utah or Florida non resident permit you got time off of training.

when I lived in Illinois (about 20 years ago) I had a commercial permit to carry. It was very expensive and took a lot of training.
when you got done all you got was a letter from the state board of registration and education that allowed you to carry on the job.
a lot of b.s. for a $5.00 an hour job.
I now live in mo. and became a deputy. 480 hours of training to start with and c.e.u.'s every 3 years

my point is , it does cost a lot but, I think the training and back ground checks are needed to keep every nut job out there from walking around with a gun in there pocket.
take a look at the past mass shooting suspects. Some one needs to at least look into their eyes and say "damn , we are going to give him a gun?!

I agree totally with you. I personally don't mind the background checks. If I keeps a gun out of the hands of a nut job great. The training was fine, training never hurts anybody, it can only help.

Wife and I have cw&fi license.What I think should be stopped in Fl. is buying handgun without any background check.You can go to the local flea market here or yard sale and buy any firearm with no check.Yes, I have seen it first hand.Pay the money,take it home.

still that way in mo. if you buy from a private individual. it is truly a scarey world out there. more reason us some what normal people need to be packin.
