Two wheels to three suggestions

I will be leaving in a few days to pick up a trike in Alabama. Have been riding a Yamaha Roadstar since 2000. Planning to purchase a Honda GL1800 with Roadsmith conversion and running boards.

I have read some articles about making the change from 2 wheels to 3 but I would like some responses from riders who have "been there - done that" and what issues you have had or what recommendations you can make to make the transition as easy as possible.

The obvious habit you will have to get out of is leaning in curves and putting your feet down at stops. Turning will be a little different and I recommend to all new trike riders to set up two markers about 50 feet apart and practice doing figure 8s around the markers. When you get good at it move the markers closer. This will get you used to not only turning on both sides but also the extra width of the back end. Also, when refueling watch out for those yellow posts, they jump right out at you. The more you practice the more it comes second nature. I know I preach a lot about the same thing but if it's second nature you are a safer rider.
