Has anyone put an after market reverse on a Harley that does not have a factory reverse?

I installed a Champion reverse. Easy to put on and kit comes with almost everything you need. Like it better than the electric reverse. Not cheap.

the difference between a good trike and a bad one depends entirely on the integrity of it's builder!
Took a Chance on one at a Swap Meet. Bought it, installed on a Brothers 95 FLHTC. Works GREAT! He wants me to keep an eye out for another one for his 95 Standard. He Sure SEEMS Happy, and says it's a
It was about Three Years ago, and I'm ALMOST Positive, it was the Champion....... Not POSITIVE though, about 99.9% Sure.

I put a Champion reverse on mine. I like a mechanical reverse better than electrical. I looked at a Baker, but it was a heck of a lot more expensive and I just couldn't see any advantage to it over a Champion. Not $200-$400 worth anyway. It is nice that the Baker is actuated from the bars and you can't have it in reverse and 1st at the same time, but reaching down to put it in reverse hasn't been an issue for me at all. Neither has having it in reverse and 1st at the same time.
I had a AIM and it is very similar to the Champion. I liked it.

I'm very happy with my Champion mechanical reverse, and favor it over an electric reverse. I've had no issues, installation was easy and straightforward.

I have the Champion on my 05 Ultra/Lehman and love it, would not have it without the Champion.
Champion makes an awesome reverse.. The only "worry" I've seen with them, is accidentally leaving it in reverse and dropping into first gear. I've heard stories of damage caused by doing so. Motor Trike has reverse gears in the Drag Specialties book I noticed; theirs comes with a wired "safety" to shut the motor down if you leave it in reverse and try to go into first to prevent damage. Sounds like a pretty cool idea to me.
Baker is an AWESOME product, but expensive, and the labor cost is higher, last time I checked, you had to pull the gearset from the tranny to do theirs. I may be mistaken and they may have updated with all the new products coming out lately (no doubt I'll get educated/corrected if that's true).
I have the Champion and have left it in reverse many times and put it in first, as soon as I go to let the clutch out I realize it immediately and shut it down and get it out of first. No big deal if you don't try to go. I am sure if you dumped the clutch with it in both gears you would break something. I try to remember to never leave it in reverse but old as dirt so it is what it is! Stuff happens!
I decide to go with the Motor Trike Reverse kit since it has a motor cut off if you accidently have it in reverse and first. Going to install it in a few months once the weather get warmer here in the northeast.
