Not sure if I have free time or I just forgot everything I was suppose to do.
Retired and highly recommend it.
There are many sub-species of the kangaroo. Those look to be about 4 feet tall when standing up. I have seen some smaller one (about 3 feet tall when I was in Perth, WA Australia. The big reds about 7 foot tall If I remember right.
When I was visiting Brisbane in Feb. 1992 I was at the Zoo or some animal sanctuary (about 2 hours by city bus) and for $10 you could have your picture taken holding the Koala.

spot on Rmitchel, there are all sorts of marsupials that fall loosely under the name Kangaroo, and various types of kangaroos... you are right about the big fed ones mostly seen inland, they are huge. A 7 footer will mess you up. they are extremely good boxers, they punch on like humans, and if you see how muscular their arms are, its enough to put you off even thinking about fighting one..... BUT. the punch is not its best move. Kangaroos can balance on their tails, and give a massively powerful downward kick, which combined with a huge middle toe-nail, means they can disembowel you easily..
