Do all CSC Cobra XL's ride rough??

My 02 GL1800 with 2013 Cobra XL seams to ride rough no matter what setting I have the rear shock set at.
Doesn't if I'm riding solo or with a co-rider. I've tried 0 up 15 on the settings. I'm beginning to think it is just a CSC trait. I had a OEM rear shock off of a newer Wing when I had it triked. With my co-rider and me riding it adds about 500 lbs to the trike.

I have the '13 CSC Viper which I believe mechanically is very similar and it rides smooth as silk or extremely firm - all at the flip of a switch!

Have you checked the tires? A friend of mine had a bad tire on his trike that made it ride rough.

The rear tire pressure should be in the 20 to 24 psi range.

The shock used in the conversion is not the same shock used on the 2 wheeler.

If the TRIKE is overloaded (rider, passenger & luggage weight), the spring can be changed to a higher rate.

I run the rear tires at 22-24, front stock tire at 40-41. My original rear shock adjusting mechanism was messed up. If you did the test to see where the assembly started to labor it was around 7 instead of 0-2. My old system as a bike road like it was a rigid frame bike, I also had the fork springs replaced with Progressive springs for a trike. I was always told that we would be happy with the way the trike would ride, compared to a bike.
When I was trying to decide which trike kit to go with I was told that a Roadsmith rode a little smoother than the CSC would ride. They said it just depended on if I wanted a smoother ride to go with the Roadsmith or if I wanted a firmer ride to go with the CSC. So is this the firmer ride they (the dealer) was talking about. I only have 4000 miles on it since picking it up in May 2013.

I have a 2010 Goldwing that I bought new and had triked with the CSC Cobra XL at 17K miles and I think it rides the same as it did when it was a 2 wheeler. I think it rode and rides great.

I'd be taking your trike back to your installer. There's something not right if you can't soften up the ride!

I have to take it back when it warms up for the, the next 3 or 4 days are calling for more snow. I have to take it in for the differ oil to be changed, also to check my steering head bearings. I talked to them last summer when I took it in for the first check up. They said it rode good to them. I need to find someone who has a CSC around here so I can ride theirs to see how it compares to mine.

Will most likely be flying, it is around 1600 miles one way. We have a trip planned to the Oregon Coast in Aug. We've done it in our van, planning on doing on the trike this time.

Might I suggest you have them set it to the firmest ride and then you take it out; then have them set it to the softest ride and you take it out again.
If you're not experiencing a gentle ride, they they have some work to do for you.

If I remember, my setting is on 3 and it's almost as smooth as my caddy! Well, not quite, but darn smooth!

I have a 2008/1800 Had it triked in 2010 with about 20,000 turns
on it. I haven't had any bad vibes from the rear shock as you are saying. I was told that if you run the pressure down to about 2# in the rear, run with that for about 4 to 500 miles and it'll straighten it right out. I've tried it and it straightened right out.
What are you all waiting for ?? Get ur done.

Personally I think compared to 2 wheels.
All trikes ride rougher.
Its just a matter of getting used to them.

Awhile back I had a big thread about front tire air pressures and for me.
I have found 36 lbs in the front give me a better ride quality then 41lbs.
I cant for the life of me understand turning my front tire into a rock and expecting it to ride better as most here do.
Tire longevity not being an issue or concern for me.
The ride is all that counts to me.
Rears I run 22-24 lbs.

Hey thanks guys for all the info, I'll have to try all things suggested, right after I get it out of the storage unit in a month or so. I snowed all day then around 6PM tonight the temp was 43 and raining, supposed to snow the next 2 or 3 days. We have long winters around here.

1600 miles......that would be a nice trip on your trike! Go for it.

Snake that would be a good ride, just don't have the vacation time to ride out and back.

I have a 2009 GW that was new out of the create in Nov of 2012 and had it Triked in Jan of 2013. Mine is a CSC Cobra XL, and it rides like a dream. I fell it rides better then my GW. My wife loves the ride and feels more secure then on 2 wheels. Her only complaint over the last year has been about the wind buffeting up from the rear fenders. I am going to install a full set Baker Wings this spring before the riding season kicks off. I have test rode CSC, Roadsmith, Lehman and Motor Trike. All have their own quirks and difference's and it just comes down to what you feel the best on, for me it was the CSC. I liked its looks and the way it rode. if you are having issues I would return to the installer and have them make some adjustments to the rear shock setup. It took three tries for them to get mine setup correctly.
