Hello One and All,
After totaling out two bikes in 25 years, both due to auto drivers, I decided the third would probably be the charm that gets me, and purchased my 1982 VW trike in 2010. It hadn't been ridden in 8yrs and hadn't been started in 5yrs. I put it in storage, working on it in my off hours, and got it running in 3 weeks. I was ecstatic! I soon found out that it would ride in any gear but I couldn't shift on the fly, AND the brakes were shot. I converted the old stock brakes to discs, installed new shocks, and fixed the shifter (I think) over the next few months. Just as I finished with these and before riding, I decided to replace the fuses. Needless to say, one was welded in the box. DAMN! This was Nov, 2011, and I went ahead and put it back in storage (no garage). I soon moved 75 miles away to Tulsa (new job and return to school) and didn't get much opportunity to work on it over the next year. I moved it to storage closer to me in Dec, 2012, and decided to go ahead and get it fixed up so, in my free time (between work, school, rental property in Topeka, KS, and family in Joplin, MO) I have been working on it slowly. I've stripped it down, am doing some painting, rewiring the new harness, and reupholstering. I hope to have it ready to FINALLY ride this summer. My significant other is looking forward to riding and helps with what she can. We both belong to the T-Town Travelers, a great group of fellow riders and the BTW. I'm looking very forward to joining the three-wheel movement and being able to park the truck. Safe riding to all and remember, it's not the destination, it's the journey. I wish you enough, vdubu
