Two weeks with the new to me trike

I have learned a lesson in my first two weeks of my new to me trike. (it spent the month of December in the shop) Leave Plenty of time to stop and answer questions. Haven't been able to get from the parking lot to the store without hearing " nice bike". "Is that a Harley". "Love that color". Even toll booth operators. I'm lovin' the new ride. '05 Honda VTX 1300 R Champion.

I have had a serious learning curve when stopping a trike compared to two wheels. A few weeks ago, I put on special pads (on the rear) that are softer and supposed to grab better. Still breaking them in. Can't finish break-in, as I don't have a ski adapter for my front end. There is a whole lot of white stuff here!!

It is good that you are down in the Sunshine state. Around here now, just getting over 11" to 13" of snow, but when that is clear, we still can't go out riding until there is a good hard rain. The trike drive & suspension are not at all road salt proof. In our area, the county uses one full dump truck of salt every 4 blocks. (Now you know why the ocean is so salty.)

Get used to it.
I park my trike in front of the store and get compliments and questions daily.
For me its been almost a year and half well close anyway.

Yesterday I had a guy come up to me and start talking bikes. He had sold his two wheeler a couple years ago and had decided he was finished riding.

He was so excited about the trike he wanted my contact info and first shot at buying it when it came up for sale.

Where I live in N. Central Florida in an area with lots of retired folks trikes are very common and everyone is used to seeing them. The community I live in which has a population over 101,000 has a Goldwing club and trikes far outnumber 2 wheelers.

Here in the Boca area its just the opposite.
Very few trikes are seen and most ask me whats that bike with the wheels in the front?? LOL
Of course I tell them its for folks who want to ride and have no bike license and need an automatic transmition.
I tell them mines an Accord missing a wheel, not a motor cycle with an extra wheel.

JaysGone, I moved here from that area,( Boca, then Boynton) almost 4 years ago and know what you mean. Very few trikes there and lots of sports bikes. Here I rarely see a sport bike unless I run over to Daytona area.

Cavie - Nice looking trike. Glad your located in an area where you get to enjoy it. Here in Jersey right now, with 20 (+ or -) temps, all I can do is wait for Spring...

When I see another trike I get very excited. I think there are about 6 in the area and know all the owners. When the rally was here I got a lot of comments from locals.

We triked our 06 Wing back in November.
We've mostly gotten really positive comments on it everwhere we go, except for when we were going into a resturant to eat and a young thug leaving on a Harley said to me: "What's the matter, Gramps? Can't handle a real motorcycle anymore?" Other than that one insulting comment, it's been all positive. BTW, my wife made me keep my mouth shut when she heard it and saw me starting to react. Good thing too.....for him.
