    Default Redline Engineering Trike Lift

While I search the possibilities of trike lifts, I have come across a lift made by Redline Engineering. I have noticed ( unless I missed it) this lift wasn't mentioned on these forums. Seems good size and priced right. Has anybody used this lift? Mighty Olbiged

Might help with a link: http://www.redlinestands.com/catalog...c-290_110_111/

They seem a little high on prices as it looks like they will order anything / good site for shopping - looking but doesn't show specific accessories available per manufacturer, so pick a brand and then go to the mfgr. website for details.

    I have : http://www.redlinestands.com/catalog...shipping-p-505
With the optional side panels and ramps / front wheel tire vise / this is an air unit. Just more info..

Thanks Solid Bob, I was looking at the TR1500. Seems like the widest surface area of any lift. $1300. I thought it was good.

After looking at all sorts of lifts.
I ended up buying this center lift with its optional wheeled platform.
Works well and easy to use under the tow hitch.
Jack it up put the trike on some stands.
Move it to front and more stands or leave on the lift itself.
No issues doing any work now I need to do myself.
Not a ton of dollars spent.

    http://www.phatperformanceparts.com/..._p/29-3074.htm

    I did have one issue.
1st time I jacked up the trike I centered the lift under the pumpkin.
    Up she went.
Took off the right side wheel.
    Then loosened up the left.
As soon as I took off the left wheel.
PL00P!!! on the right side she fell right on the frame and fender.
I got it back up with no damages, but it did scare the crap out of me.
I cant say for all trikes.
    But
A Motor Trike Adventuer is not balanced at its center point for what ever reason.
The right side is actually heavier.
Just a tid bit Im passing on here.

That jack is made to use on a lift with their optional accessories to hold your trike up UNTIL jack stands are positioned to support the trike. I use two of them, one at the rear to lift the frame to allow the IRS to hang down for tire removal. Once jack stands are in place I have another flat jack with a soft rubber pad to jack under the motor case to lift the front or to change oil. The accessories slide on top of the top of the jack and are used to widen the jacks lifting points... watch the K&L video on the link for the MC625 lift above - it shows the jack use on the video.

Sorry for your near loss.. just watch the Video.... Glad your okay..

yah I learned the hard way with that 1st use.
Its jack stands all the way around now.
I wanted to buy a full lift but as Im not in great shape anymore and doing less and less self maintenance.
    I had a hard time justifying a 1600$+ lift.
The auxiliary jack works fine for my needs now.
But again 100% with jack stands now too.

Greetings again and thanks for the tips. Upon my researching of various lifts, my bike dealer uses a Handy BOB 1500. He likes it but $$ with trike extension. furthering that , I see some that are air and some that are air / hydraulic and some that are electric. Does anybody know what the pro and cons are? Mighty obliged.

I use Air Only as it's easier on the compressor, the air / hydraulic is not real smooth / jerky and requires oil maintenance. I've always used air only... just my FYI

Thanks Solid Bob. I guess that the weight lifting capacity would be the same? 90-100 psi? What about volume? Does the compressor need to be two stage? Thanks for your advice.

Mine is single stage and will pump 150# in the 30Gal tank. I leave it stationary and put 3 outlets, each with a small water filter & regulator and snap hose ftg, one for the lift, one going to a 100' hose reel / manual crank for around the shop or airing up tires in front of the shop and the last outlet is still waiting. Here's some to look at, catch them on sale 120v is all that's needed:

    This is mine: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Powermate...specifications

Excellent for air tools, ratchets, die grinders, air trim saws etc.

Has never failed to pump up even in 10 degree cold..

I haven't used the reline, but did buy the k&l 625r last nov. one of the reasons I like it is because the side extensions come in 4 sections so you can just use the back 2 for a trike and it is easier to get closer to your work. the centers in both the front and rear drop down and also give you better access to your bike

I don't have a lift but would sure like to have one, but I really don't have a place to store it. I have used car ramps to get the back off the ground. I turn them around backwards, put the trike in reverse and it hops right up on them. Then I jack up the front and put a ramp under the front wheel.

I would not have room either, so I park the trike on it, put the half cover on, raise it up to cleaning height and lock it in place. Needs no air once locked. The 4' sections are easy to remove for the side panels, I got (1) extension section so I could move the trike back and forth and mounted the front tire vise on it. Can be removed in 2 minutes if needed... K&L is very versatile and they have handy stuff, great Xmas presents to ourselves....

Would a 10 gallon 2.5hp 125 psi compressor do the trick? Or do I have to invest into a larger one? Mighty obliged.

Have no idea, probably will run a lot as those K&L air cylinders are big and it has to push those rams to raise the lift. My 30G will do it with out even coming on and I leave the reg. set at 110# which is about 105# as some regulators read a little off. That's what an air gauge is for... don't know about the 10G though, sorry.

Some more FYI, K&L and some of it's dealers do offer financing and these lift also work great changing mower blades and working on a riding mower and get the little 2 wheel dolly and lift wheels. You name it....just don't blow a cylinder $$$$ , no I never have on this brand / Handy was another story....

Hey Solidbob, I was looking at the Handy lifts too. Love to hear "another story". Some lifts have casters where you can move the lift around in the garage even with a bike on it. Don't know why anybody would want to do that, but seems it would be great to use to finalize the final destination.

The Handy 1500 will end up costing more than the K&L / it has a smaller floor footprint that makes it easier to tip over and it tracks with steel roller wheels on your floor (still requires floor cleaning under it) hence need for dolly-mover , single large air cylinder. If your spending money for a Handy - get the K&L better construction, better locking and a wider footprint w/ Twin Cylinders, doesn't roll on your floor so doesn't require cleaning as often. Caster kit is needed for the K&L and can be adjusted up / down while the Handy has the two roller wheels that markup the floor - both need the little dolly for cleaning to move it around. If you had just a bike lift you can scoot them around some but they don't lock DOWN just up so if you try to move it with a two wheeler you just lift the platform and not the base.
Never move a bike or trike on any little casters, your just asking for a accident $$$$$ ... maybe to you to are to your car I the garage.
