What did you do to your Trike this week?

Re: If you can, what work are you doing on your trike this winter.

WOW, just looking at the picture with all the wiring and plastic ware (Tupperware, as some call it) sends shivers down my back. I know if I ever did something like that, I would have parts left over! LOL
I would have to take picture of every step to get everything back in one piece!
Good luck, send more pictures as you progress!

Just some in - process pics as I go along. Bought a used front seat and modified it to fit my space. Reshaped it to make my wife a little more comfortable. Still need to have the new covering made. It will be mounted on 5 inch springs when finished. I will post pics when done. 20140306_190233_resized.jpg20140316_171022_resized.jpg20140316_171010_resized.jpg20140309_185328_resized.jpg

03Volisia Trike, to bad you don't live around here, I have a good person to do the cover for you. He works on all the Hot Rods in the area making their seats and tops. He did my cover for my pickup.
Hope you get it done soon. It looks like your wife is going to have a great seat.

Not as hard as it looks. Just label everything before taking it apart.

Re: If you can, what work are you doing on your trike this winter.

Started to work on the trunk open display, but I ran into the same problem as last year. The color code I was told signaled open saddle bag display did not work when grounded.
So, the question is, who has a 02 GL 1800 service manual that can tell me which colored wires go to the saddles bag micro switches.
I was told white wire with red stripe & blue wire with red stripe, but they don't work when grounded.
I think I read where the color codes have changed in some years. Not all Wings have the same color codes doing the same job.
Thanks for your help!

All apart and in the hands of the paint shop. All parts will be painted black with a clear gloss on top.

worked all winter to pay for part of what I did to it last year. I ended up with one expensive triked ultra.
at $35,000 and climbing. Now for an oil change and ride the pennies out of it.ThumbUp

Well, one down, one to go. The trunk open display did not get resolved even with the help of Dick and Jerry. We could not find the plug with the saddle bag micro switch color codes. So, I put in an LED to tell me the trunk is open next to my Gerbins potentiometer on the rear pocket door. One photo shut, other open.

I will try to insert the photos on this thread, but I have never been able to do it. So, if I don't get the photos inserted and you want to see them, PM me with your email address and I will send them to you.

I bought an MP3 player to replace my Honda CD changer, that's the next thing to be done for this winter's projects. Putting the player in will be a piece of cake, BUT, doing the computer program downloaded and getting the music into my SD card with folders as required by the Honda program will be another story, as I am not one with the computer.
How are your updates on your winter projects doing?

PS: See not one with up load, so you have a picture of my Granddaughter.

Re: If you can, what work are you doing on your trike this winter.

The only thing I did over the winter was to replace my F4+4 vented clear windshield with an F4+2 vented and "tinted" windshield.

My wife can't ride any more due to medical restrictions. So I thought this would also give me an excuse to get the new tinted model F4 offers. And I'm glad I did! Not only do I have the adjustment features back with the +2, but I've also found that the light tint is fantastic! It looks great against my Portland Grey trike, but better yet it actually does cut the glare on a sunny day when looking through it!

Next upgrade will be HID headlights hopefully during the summer. We'll see,,,.

All of the parts are back from paint. Looks great. I am recovering from Bilateral TMJ replacement (Feb 26) and had a Le Fort osteotomy on March 26, so it will be awhile before I can get everything back together and riding.

Holly Molly, are you on liquids for a while? No wonder you won't be able to get to your upgrades.
So, how are you doing, healing OK? Good luck and a speedy recovery.

Liquids along with anything that does not require chewing (Soups, scrambled eggs, Mac and cheese ect) for the next 3-5 weeks. Healing is going well. Not a fun ordeal. 4 major surgeries in 17 months. 3 of them in the past 5 months. But the VA has done an awesome job rebuilding me!

Here is what they did before the LaForte.

Look mom... The bionic man:D. That looks like it would hurt, hope you heal quickly.

Re: If you can, what work are you doing on your trike this winter.

This last one is a real PITA. But the actual joint replacement brought instant relief. The surgery hurt allot less than the fused joints did. They removed the joints in October and installed silastic blocks and arch bars. That part wasn't fun either. But anyway, month or so I should be back at 'em. Heck it snowed here again last night and temps are still on the cool side for a bit.

Re: If you can, what work are you doing on your trike this winter.

One more trike project for this winter. I am waiting for my MP3 player to come in so I can mounted to the trike. Replacing the Honda CD player which hangs up during play.
The mounting to the trike will be easy, the hard part for me will be the programming of the SD card with the songs, as I am not one with the computer. You have to load the SD card a specific way for the Honda program to except it. Also, transfering the music to the MP3 player's program on the computer.
But, we will get through it, even if I have to ask my niece or nephew for help. LOL
