Well I have an air horn on mine but you must be very careful and selective as to when & where to use it.

I agree, the mini-beast is what I have , but unfortunately he is looking for something to fit under the stock cover.

camacdonald78, you might check out the Wolo horns

I have a Wolo. Looks ok, very loud. I just mounted a set of Ward's fans, had to take the horn off because it wouldn't fit between the fans. Want it?

Yeah, re-read and saw that. Good luck camacdonald. I'd probably stick with the stock cowbell. A friend had a wolo, got rid of it after a couple months. Don't know why but think he could never depend on it working.

Jim, you need to be talking to Jason Ward. I run a mini-Beast and Jason now has a mount that kicks the horn out.

I have a Wolo airhorn mounted on my Softail. It won't fit under the cowbell.

However, you could mount it somewhere else AND leave your cowbell where it is. Nothing wrong with having two horns, or leaving the cowbell there and disconnecting it.

There's plenty of room on the TG to mount it in a variety of locations. On place is off the frame under the passenger seat.

Here's mine next to the left passenger floorboard-

Get the latest issue of Motorcycle Consumer News. They just did a comparo on horns. Very informative. Yes, there was a replacement horn that fits under the cover and they say it's twice as loud as stock.

Speaking of horns, has anyone seen that U-tube video of the guy that installed a train horn on his bike-trumphets in the saddlebags. He drives up and down an industrial park street and you can hear him a block away. I laugh every time I watch it. I would love to do that to my bike.
There are also a bunch of other videos too, but this one is my favorite.

Just me; But I can't remember the last time I used the horn on any bike or trike.
Most times people use their horn after the fact and out of frustration [anger]..
A horn no matter how loud won't stop a left hand turner, Or a rear-ender...
And it just might make a lane drifter mad or confused and swing into you..
Awareness of your surroundings is better than a loud horn...

same here --- if I need the horn I'm usually to busy addressing the issue at hand to sort out the horn button ---------normally the only time I use the horn is to get the attention of another rider that I am riding with

I agree (sort of). I rarely us the horn, but when I do, I want the other guy to wet his pants. I have Rivco air horns that use 2 chrome trumpets. Looks nice, even when not in use.

I also very rarely use my horn.
I just bought an old fashion bicycle ice cream bell for my TriGlide. Sure brings a smile from everyone when I rollup and ring it.

I had replaced the stock horn on my '94 bagger when it died with a Stebel air horn. I think it was around $70. Included relay and wiring. It will scare the crap out of small children and deer. I bought another to mount on the trike. I ended up mounting it and the relay under the seat to the rear of the battery in the cavity under the seat. Works well there.

I have some pretty loud pipes, and a modulating headlight. In a tight situation, it's usually easier to blip the throttle than go for the horn button and hit my left turn signal instead. lol

But there are times when I do use the horn....

Animals in the road, or the possibility of animals in the road. There are some stretches I have to travel at dusk or night where I feel safer hitting the horn pretty regular.

The other instance is when some cage is starting a bonehead move, but it is not imminent danger yet, that is a situation where I do use the horn.

I have also found, that with a louder horn (that I know is going to be more effective than the stock one) I use it more, for that very reason...it works.

I am on my 2nd mini-beast air horn....1st one insides fell apart....2nd one on TG is losing loud sound. $174.85 (first one covered by HD dealer)....ProPad, Inc. bought out by Custom Dynamics and relunctant to cover my 3-yr warranty on 2nd one. Friend relocated the air cannister to the right-side (throttle side) of Electra-Glide behind cover...using stock horn.

Just bought the Harley loud horn replacement that fits under cowbell. About $45 and supposed to be 2 times louder than stock.

Thank you everyone for your input, think I'm going to replace the cowbell for a better horn. I also don't use it much but the other day I needed it and used it and it wasn't heard that's what made me think it's time for an upgrade. Thanks again!!
