    Default foot pegs

I absolutely love my gold wing 1500 trike in all things except the comfort issues. I'm one at a time addressing these issues pretty much as I can afford them. I dealt with the "too cramped up" problem with a new seat. The next issue is - I have trouble getting my foot under the gear shift lever to up shift. I've searched the internet to find some kind of bracket to lower the foot pegs about an inch. As far as I can tell, there's no such animal for the 1500. Please let me know if that's not true.

The only solution I can come up with is having a guy at a local hotrod shop cut the pedal, weld a strip of metal, then wield the pedal on dropping it down an inch. HE wants $100 per pedal to do this. DO any of you see a problem with doing this? Is there any other solution?

Do you have Wing Boards on your trike kit?

If so, try removing your foot pegs and just use the Wing Boards. That's what I've done along with many other Wing/Trike owners. Works for me also allowing for much more leg room.

    A photo would help.
As rmrc51 stated may work for you if you have the wing boards/running boards.
If not,and you have stock driver foot pegs, try to find some older Valkyrie stock foot pegs. They are 1 1/2" lower than the 1500 pegs and mount the same. This may give you the clearence needed to work the shifter arm better.
Just a suggestion, don't know your exact problem.

I cant speak for the GL.
But when I had my 99 Valk I too felt cramped just a might bit.
I made my own lowering brackets from some steel plate.
I dropped the pegs an additional 1.25 inches.
A lot easier to get my toe under the shifter.
    But.
    If your a peg dragger??
Not a good thing to do as your about 2-3 inches from the pavement.

A few pics to show how low I went. I hope they give you some ideas.

I believe he was referring to a regular two wheeler.

If you have foot pegs mounted too low when taking hard turns, your chances of 'dragging the foot pegs' on the pavement are much greater and more dangerous.

    That what I meant 100%.
The floor boards are hinged but do get whacked at times.
On a trike it shouldn't be a problem.
I used the Kury floor board set up with a piece of 3/16ths steel made from about a 6x4 inch piece of steel plate.
Just drill holes for the top mount and for the pegs brackets as low as you feel you might want.
The brake or right side. Due to the pedal and linkage takes a little more work but wasnt to difficult to do.

Yesterday the guy at the hotrod shop welded a strip of metal on my foot pegs lowering them down one inch. What a difference! Much more comfortable shifting gears and the added length feels better on my legs. I can actually get my foot under the gear shifter easily. I had to lower the brake pedal down a bit which brings up another question - How do you get the spring back in the foot peg? I stuck it in as many ways as I can see possible and it doesn't work. I really don't see any reason to have it in there, but there must be some reason or it wouldn't be there. Any suggestions?

This will also work... New Foldup floorboards or the Heel toe shifter or both. Need more room fold the board up and put your feet on the Wing Guards.... look at the spring on the other side! Will only work one way....

the beauty of those Kyrakyn boards is you can adjust the position of them, I have them on my 750.... not sure if they will stay after triking it or whether I make full length boards

Springs are needed , again 2 wheel related, if you drop the BIKE or take a sharp corner and they hit the ground they spring back. If they don't plop around with out the spring leave it be....
