Replace running light bulb on GW 1999 GL1500SE

Does any one know how I can get to the right running light to replace the dead bulb or do I have to take it to the shop and have everything taken apart???? Sounds like it might be more labor just getting to it and putting it back together. Any advide will be appreciated. Thanks!

What are you calling a right running light? What year bike? Looks like a 1500? Where is this light. Take a picture of it.

think it is a fog light = lower right behind front wheel on red

Sorry to say, the lower front cowl will have to come off. Do you have a Honda manual? If not here is a link to replacing your RED one with Chrome but it shows what is removed. http://goldwingdocs.com/Docs/Honda%2...tion-78200.pdf

Me personally I usually remove the Upper & Lower as I'm already there ad this area rarely gets cleaned well, lots of things get behind these panels going down the road. There are a number (6) of screws that require an allen wrench to remove. Then I believe there are (10) panel clips to remove. Needle nose pliers or little hands work for these, and you'll need good light to see them all. They are black plastic and are removed by pulling the center pin portion and they just pull out. There are also (2) very small Phillips head screws to remove. Once all these fasteners are removed comes the tricky part, take the upper Black cowl part out first, now the lower cowl is behind the area where the screws were attached. Slightly pull this area apart to release the lower cowl on both sides. Turn the wheel to one side and remove your red panel. Reverse order to put back together.

Now you can get to the bulb to see the one you need... Hope this helps.... although these instructions are for an 1800 the connectors should be the same I believe?

I have always found when removing the tupperware on the G/W, a can of silicone spray is very helpful to prevent breakage of tabs on the panels

Next tricky part is finding a replacement bulb. You can solder the two contacts together that works. The socket only lights up one filament so there are 2.. At least there are in mine. I added a small orange bulb in mine. Mine glow orange all the time until I turn them on then they are white.. Mine is an Aspencade so mine come on only with the turn sig. As cornering lights.

Set up orange bulb hot wired to headlight...see extra hole for orange bulb socket on right of right of original bulb hole .I used a instrument panel bulb and socket from Auto Zone..

With turn sig on...

Normal running
Bright white bulb overpowers the tine orange one stays on.
