Wow, a little windy today.

MUCH better half and I went for a little ride today. Weatherman told us it was going to be real nice. Guess he forgot to mention the winds. While riding in town all was good, in fact all was wonderful. AS soon as we left town and headed out for a nice breakfast we found the winds to be almost unforgiving. Blew us all over my lane and that makes me just a tad bit nervous. But it was a good test ride. I have put on larger tires on the rear of my trike and had the wheel openings enlarged to fit. Obviously on one side I did not get it quite the same as we have a rub on one side when we hit a slight bump. Bummer.



Since we have already done the work on the wheel wells (in fiberglass) about the only thing we have left to address is the suspension. It is an older 2001 CSC solid axle kit which does have coil over shocks on each side plus it retains the original air shock. I have at least one more (stiffer) setting left on the coil over shocks left so I will try that first. If that doesn't work would I be better off to try and find new coil over shocks that are just a bit taller? I'm open for ideas or suggestions here. Well, except for those that are not humanly possible!

Don't forget some goggles in those high winds. Never know what can blow into eyes.

We had a similar problem with our 1200 which the previous owner had not addressed. The tires would often hit the edge of the wheel well and were actually "grinding" a slight groove in the tire. We ended up using a slightly narrower tire which "pulled" everything in a 1/2 - 3/4 inch and solved the problem.

By the way, beautiful fiberglass job you did on your fenders.

Thanks 87Trike1200, I appreciate that. And believe me, we thought long and hard about getting smaller tires but ordered the same width in the 15" tire size as we had in the 14"s. I figured I would be able to figure something out ya know? Silly me ...

Twobye, 7 of us rode to Logan today through the Hocking Hills. Bikes out numbered the cages all day. Yes it was a bit on the breezy side.

It's a mix of two wheelers and trikes twobye. Might only be two or three.
There's a group going to Tenn. in July, the Boss and I may do a long weekend to WV. in June, and Vt. is on our schedule for August.
Most all of our weekend rides are on Sundays after church.

We went to Moonshine IL Sat. On the way home, the wind about beat us to death. I was completely wiped out when we got home. This was our first trip this spring and I have to get used to riding again.

What size tire did you go to. I also had a 14" rim on my CSC I just got a pair of 15" rims. I got to get tires this week going to go a little taller to drop the RPMs down.

205/70r/15 Uniroyals. Nice tire, good mileage rating and quiet on the road. If I had to do it again I would go with 195/75r/15's I think.

We both have the same GL1500/CSC trikes at 70 mph what RPM's are you turning with the 215-75-15's. The tires I am running on now are 205-75-14 and the RPM is about 3800 at 70 mph. I would like to drop the RPM's down to about 32/3400 area or did the taller tires hurt the power. I see you pull a trailer.

First, rpm's at 70 mph are about 34-3500. I've seen no appreciable difference in power pulling the trailer. I believe the 1500 has an abundance of power & torque.
