Just wondered who besides me owns a Bushtec trailer. Heres a pic of the BushTec Turbo I setup for my Girl lobo...Works Great and she Loves it!

I just picked up the 1991 BushTec Turbo above...

Very nicely built trailer and for its age in remarkable condition...I modified it for my dog by doing similar to the Bushtec Tow Tow model..I haven't towed it much yet, but so far seems real good..Im abit curious tho about the proper air pressure in the shocks....I do have the manual for the adjustment specs, but am wondering what should I run in the trailer if I have the dog with me and then no dog or load{empty}..wondering if a happy meduium could be done so not constantly adding or removing air...Dog weighs about 75lbs...I have 40lbs in the shocks right now which gives me proper wheel alignment with her in the trailer...Any views and opinions appreciated..Thx..HB

A friend of mine has a trailor similar to yours. He pulls with less air in the trailer so not too get so much bounce in it.

Hank, I have a Bushtec Turbo 2 and I normally have between 38 and 45 pounds in the shocks loaded for a trip. I would think you are very close at 40 considering the weight of your pal. Just follow the Bushtec instructions and don't forget to "walk" the trailer by hand a few feet back and forth after a air adjustment to allow the tires/wheels to align themselves.

Bushtec trailers never bounce. That's one of their great features.

I have a Bushtec Roadstar that we purchased to do the West Coast trip. We left Omaha, went thru Sturgis, SD then up to I-90 across Montana and into Washington. I have a cousin in N.E. Washington that I had never met in person, (only on the Net). She lives about 15 miles from the Canadian Border. After staying a couple of nights up there, we headed for the coast then followed it down to San Diego to visit another cousin. Then to Vegas for the night. We left Vegas at noon across the Desert at 115°F!!! I swear that I saw a guy dressed in Red with horns and a Pitchfork along side the Road!!! It was miserable!!

I cranked my Bike to 100mph pulling that Roadstar and couldn't tell it was there!!! (I know this was stupid). We then spent the night in Kingman, AZ then across I-40 to Texas then straight North back to Omaha.

It was a GREAT Trip and the trailer was FLAWLESS!!! It was all that everyone says it is. I had to adjust my mirrors so I could see it just to remind me it was back there!!! - I just can't say enough about it. It is worth every penny!!
Bought the Bushtec Roadstar last year for the Harley 110th. Expecting the better half to bring more stuff home than we brought. Didn't know it was there. Had to tilt the mirrors to see it back there!. Empty and half loaded, couldn't tell it was there.

Agree 100%. The most dangerous thing about pulling a BushTech trailer is forgetting it's back there. I've pulled mine behind my Uktra for 3 years and now, due to medical problems, behind a Tri-Glide. Nothing better on the road.

I investigated/analyzed 6-7 different trailers, visited 2 manufacturing sites before settling on BushTec. In my opinion they are the best out there.

Now, before I go any further with this I'm going to qualify something. This was when John and Andy (the founders) owned the company, when customer service was FIRST. BushTec still makes a great product but their NEW corporate umbrella separates them from the biker world.
We have a 2006 Turbo 2 we bought new. Great trailer just had it repainted to match our trike. We have well over 50,000 miles on the trailer and the only problem has been the locking latch. Had to replace that several times. We only have my wives wheelchair in it 95% of the time and it is only about 40lbs.

    Default Bushtec Turbo +2

I purchased a 2014 Bushtec Turbo +2 in June of this year from Bazooka. I've had a couple of issues (ie; wiring harness and locking mechanism) but I send kudos to the guys at Bushtec because they've been right on the spot in taking care of my problems. In most cases, they'll overnight the part to you. The trailer is great! Just returned from a 1500 mile trip, and I kept having to look back to make sure the trailer was still back there. Well worth the price!

I have a BushTec Roadstar and love it. When I started looking for a trailer I looked and analyzed 5 or 6 different manufactures. Even went to 2 manufacturers plants to see just how they were made. Finally narrowed it down to 2. Just so happens that both had displays in Sturgis. Noticed BushTec at their old location on south Junction. Went to take a serious look at the one manufacturer at the Civic Center. They couldn't wire my bike and didn't have near the warranty that BushTec. So south Junction here I come.

Met with John and his son, founders of BushTec.

Now they were about $1500 more but the suspension, run flat larger tires AND customer service was the deal.

While they wired my bike I HAD to watch a DVD on everything about the trailer. They made me demonstrate that I could hook it up and knew how to maintain it.

i DO need to make it clear I bought my trailer when, like I said, John and Andy owned the company. I have had a couple issues with the new BIG umbrella company that bought them but as far as I can tell the product hasn't changed, a great, safe trailer.

.

Regretfully, since my wife doesn't ride anymore, I'm going to sell it pretty soon. Just don't use it anymore.

Default Matching Bushtec

Bought mine in 2013 at Wing Ding. Happy wife - happy life. Holds all her stuff and mine on trips. Follows the Wing like a dream. I have to keep looking back to make sure it's there.

Thought very seriously about doing the same thing to my BushTec Roadstar to haul my Rott, Dakota, around but a vet friend of mine that rides with us every now and then gave me something to think about. She ask me if I thought my pipes were loud??? Run V&H Monster Deluxe for the Tri-Glide. I said "yeah, were fairly loud". She then ask me since a dogs hearing is 12-15 times greater than a humans, how loud would they be to my dog"??? Didn't make the modification.

Brought this up to the BushTech people a couple years ago in Sturgis when they came out with that very modification to one of their trailers. Their comment "didn't think about that"....
Kudos to your vet, AND to you for listening to him!
Another consideration to think about are exhaust fumes back there. They do not blow away from the trailer but at it. People need to just squat down behind that running trike for a few minutes to find out. I can imagine how really bad the fumes would be in stop and go traffic along with all the other vehicles' exhaust. Thank you for considering the Rot's well-being.
We have a Turbo 2 it is a 2006 have towed it behind an Ultra and now the trike. Great trailer great company to deal with. Have had no problems other than the locking latch only lasts a little over a year. But they told me there was a fix for it and if I came to the factory they would do it for me for free. Changed the tires this winter just because they were 10 years old and had around 75,000 miles, there was still plenty of tread. The trailers are not cheap but in my opinion are worth it.

I took these with my phone but here's some pics of the Roadstar GT we just purchased.

Ignore the tape on the bottom pic as we re-glued the lower section of trim,on each side.

Looks good Clint.....all the options. I just sold a new 2016 yesterday just like it, best trailer on the road IMHO. I hope you aired up the shocks before you took it home....looks there was zero air in the shocks. The tires look slack too, they run 90 lbs of air in the tires.

The trailer is still at my Harley dealer,Randy. I'll air everything up before I bring it home, next week.
