RT-S Spyder

Hey Michael,
Just noticed what you ride. That's got to be a beautifull ride! I rode a 04 GL1800 with a Hannigan conversion in metallic red. You've got good taste!

Thanks Dwight! Yea, I love my Goldwing, it's almost done, still working on some airbrushing now. Should be completed by the end of February. I'll post the pictures then. I was looking at the Spyder mainly for my wife and daughters to enjoy and so all four of us can go riding together.

Windyone,
I'm 6' 1" and that is a concern for me also. I'd like to lower the footpegs an inch or so but haven't looked them over to see if I could. I haven't been able to ride more than about 160 miles in one trip yet so don't know if it's going to be a problem or not. On both my Honda and Harley I used a seat cushion to raise me up a bit because on long rides my right knee would bother me. I'd prefer to lower the pegs but I can use a cushion I guess. If the weather ever gets better I'll find out!

Just read your report on the RT... My lady has vowed it will be her next purchase.
At the moment we 'share' the Valkyrie trike on runs, but she rides her Boulevard C50
on other rides.

I think the trikes have 'got to her' and now she wants her own RT... I just gave
her a DVD with all the info and tests, and she's got a pic of it on her wall...
Don't think it'll be too long before she makes the transition

I just found out my neighbor (country mile neighbor) just got the RT-S Spyder.

She brought it up for me to see today! I got my trike and we went for a ride. Yay!!! Have someone to tool around with on weekends! She has a horse farm also, and we were saying how much easier it is to have the bikes! And lots more fun! Too bad she still works full time. We would never be home, ha ha!

She just got it yesterday and has already put 250 miles on it.

Hey! Another Spyder rider. Tell her I'm lonely here, we need someone else to chime in on Spyders. New snow on the ground here again. I'm up to almost 800 miles, pretty tuff to add miles between snow and 20 degree temps. I'm pretty sure they haven't canceled Spring, but I'm begining to worry!
Very Nice pictures Thanks for sharing them with us. I like the blue color too bad they don't make this model in yellow. I am going back to the dealer this week for a test ride on one.

I haven't had a chance yet to demo the touring version but I did see the Blue color trike at a local bike show. I have to say it was a very pretty looking machine. Now if I can only get in to take a ride.

It's a very nice ride, buth I'm sure you stick with the 1FR and 2RR because
it is a very different ride! Reverse sit on your trike, imagine a handle bar and to turn in a corner, that's pretty much what you would experience.
However if you got a chance to ride one of these give it a try! :)

I test rode a basic version several months ago and jumped on the RT this weekend while visiting family. The RT was listed at $24,4**.00. I had a friend jump on the back because his wife didn't want to. I'm a short guy, he's a tall guy. Several things that I noticed. To me it is strange with their 'automatic' to have to shift up and not being able to downshift manually. I would like the option of it's either auto or it's not. Even with my short legs, I thought the foot brake was way to close (don't get me started saying how these should also have a hand brake). In the back, at over 6 feet, my buddy was experiencing a tremendous amount of buffeting, even with the windshield topped out. All of that aside, I think these things are a blast. It may come down to me getting one but I am still holding out to test ride a conventional trike; a lot of you folks on here have conventional trikes that, IMHO, beat out the Spyder, Stallion and similar trikes in terms of sheer looks. That's my .02.

i test rode a 2010 rt-s demo the other day. liked it. Seemed a little under powered though. Almost bought it but the wife gave me one of those" well, if u like it, get it". She wants a HD triglide.

Nice choice Stephen. The 2011 look good. It's just personal choice & I just like the original version more. Besides, I have yet to fill the trunk & I just don't need that much carrying room. Although I do have a set of throw over saddlebags if I can get a road trip fit in that's longer than a weekend. Enjoy the search, they make the morning commute a lot more fun
