I just posted this last night--why is it not showing up as a new post?
ipod question: when riding and listening to MP3 or ipod, do you use a charger while playing it? The charge does not last more than a day on either of mine, so we've been using my phone charger since it fits. We plug one end into the player and the 12 volt plug into the receptacle. This seems to work, however, everytime we stop, the player begins at the same song, so we never get past very many songs unless we're on an all day ride. Then the next time we start back up, it begins in the same place again. The particular player does not have a shuffle or I would have tried that. Any suggestions for this and is it okay to keep it plugged up to 12 volt? Thanks.

It shows up on ours as a new post, newtriker. But when you post, it shows on your own screen as a post you have already seen. Hope that makes sense.

When we travel we keep the Mp3 player charged on the power port in the left fairing pocket. It is connected to turn off with the ignition. Ours starts up at the song it was playing when the trike was turned off. That is an older 40gig Creative Jukebox Zen Xtra. Also have an 8gig RCA that is battry only. about 14 hours of play time before it needs charge. I have to turn that off manually. I got an iPhone a while ago and have been using that, keep it on the charger on the trike, when the trike shuts down it kicks over to battery and i have to stop that manually, too. Starts up right where it left off.
You don't say what kind of music player you have, but all the ones I have run accross have started in the same place they shut down. May be something in the settings?

An I pod is an MP3 player only it is a trade mark of Sony so everyone else makes an MP3 player
I use a 4 gig Sansa Sandisk, on Batt only. It will play 8 hours on a charge, so far I have not ridden the bike long enough to kill it. Charges fully over night. It starts right where you turn it off. Take the time to create play lists, that way you can call up the music to fit your mood, or the road you are on.

Thank you for all your replies. We rode all day today, kept it plugged into the 12 volt charger. When I turn it off manually, it starts where it left off. When it turns off with the key only, it goes back to the song it started on. Arghhh.....it is a 2 GB zen stone with about 455 songs on it. I think I am going to buy a different player that at least has buttons on it I can see. The zen stone is a very small and the on/off switch is along the top and hard to see or feel! (You know how it is with old rough hands, and the eyesight's not so good either!) But really, thank you all for trying to help.
