The healing begins

I decided to start a new thread with a new optimism. I got my new cast on my finger today and at least it's pink. I have not gotten the check yet, but I'm very optimistic the JOY is going to be healing as well. I will post pics of her reconstruction and rehab, so the new thread.

my finger is well and I have not moved the break in any way. it has 2 pins in it with one going up into my hand to stabilize it. it better not have moved. I got my stiches out and now have my new permanent cast. yea it's pink at least. the healing begins but how long it will take is another story. my throttle hand is in a cast and has been already weakened for 3 months. my biggest worry is getting my hand back in shape to turn a throttle.

I hope you heal real soon and get your trike back on the road. I don't know how much you were injured. I do know how long it takes to heal from a motorcycle wreck. On May 2,2010 I was riding my trike with some friends from work. My Dad had died May 1st, so I went on a ride to clear my head it didn't work somewhere on the pig trail in Ark a car pulled out in front of me I missed the car but went across the highway and hit the guard rail totaled out my trike threw me over the guard rail about 25 ft down the side of the mountain.Broke both legs, my back, my left shoulder and two fingers on my right hand. I lived but was in hospital and nursing home for 10 months.Fast forward to 5/26/14 I can walk with a cane but not very far. I bought a 1997 Honda gold with a motor trike kit on it and I can ride again.So I do Know about recovery time and the Good Lord let me ride again I just can't walk very far I run out of energy. I say all of this to say to you keep your head up high and continue to recover it will work out in your favor sorry this is so long.

I could use another one though. anyone capable of working on a goldwing willing to help will be welcome to. if you are in vegas able to help please pm me and we can work it out. knowledge is helpful but not necessary I know my trike inside and out this is not new to me just a little more work than building it was.

it's ok we can take time for you to see vegas, I need to get out of the house as well. would love to get out, I definitely have that cabin fever thing I NEED TO RIDE AAHHH

I had surgery on my right wrist due to torn cartilage. It took 5 months of physical therapy 3 times a week to get back to normal.

they suggested 12 weeks in cast. figure 3-6 months rehab. I think I'm going to have to adapt a left hand throttle for a while?

I got my shiny new part from DFT. I have 2 very nice men able to assist. I will post pics of before and after.

I have been looking at wrecked goldwing lately. I found other sites to go to. I am amazed at how most seem barely damaged and others are unrecognizable. I am amazed at how mine seems like light repairable damage. I am concerned with throw away goldwings. what ever happened to the days when we fixed our bikes? I know it's unusual but I was taught if you can't fix it you should not be riding it. I do however applaud anyone who rides.

my hand is now had it's 4 week post op birthday only 8 more to go. 4 more weeks until we check it for healing

easier to throw it away and let the insurance co. buy a new one . After our wreck I had to fight to keep the body shop from totaling mine . I had so much good stuff with the old one to let it go and start over. I ended up with a smaller settlement but made it work. glad I did.

"THIS" really is a big issue nowadays with "Home Repairs" on most every Vehicle.....

I have been looking at wrecked goldwings lately. I am amazed at how many there are. I can only think 2 things there are a lot of inexperienced riders out there. well they got me and I have 30 years experience so that flies a little.

I think that people are the problem we have filled our rode's with drivers that should not be driving they don't know how to drive.

they learn to drive from a instruction manual from the dmv designed to help you pass the test. we are not taught to drive the car, watch the road , react to hazards. most do not know the driving laws, everyone has the me first attitude. everyone is intent on doing or going where they think they must go and they will go there even if your in there way.

it amazes me I have even seen people pass in the left break down lane on the freeway. people do not think in their cars they only know I have to get there now and where is my coffee. to many wired drivers.

I'm only slightly touching this subject, as I believe we should train every driver on a skid pad like the Netherlands and other countries in that area.

people should be taught not only every law on the books but how to use their eyes and pay attention. then how to control, handle, maneuver, steer, stop, and turn. then they need to be taught how to handle their vehicle in an emergency.

then get a license to drive.
