We have one also. Purchased it used. Former owner must have experienced the same problem, so the shop he used removed the grill from the air output and sealed it off with a solid plate without providing any other air exhaust port. Stupid. Cost me $600 to have all the vacuum lines replaced and shorted suit heat wiring repaired due to overheating, and I feel lucky that was all that had to be done. Looking at the area it seems it would have worked if some method of air exhaust had been provided.

I’m a newbie in the world of Can-Am’s. Bought mine about 10 days ago and haven’t experienced the heat problem yet. A couple things you can try (ideas I’ve learned from the forum at Spyderlovers.com) is to get a block-off plate for the upper opening. Leave the lower opening uncovered. If you go to Spyderpops.com they make the plate and also a grill you can install and if you read about the install they mention either removing the plate on the bottom of the bike or drilling holes in it for the heat to exit. Another idea I just read about today is to remove the air deflectors underneath the mirrors.That will allow more airflow towards the rider’s legs. This one I’ll probably try.Hope these ideas help.

I have a 14 RT and do not have the heat problem.I guess BRP has solved that issue. If it were me and I had one of the earlier models,I would try and figure out how to take air from the front of the trike and use it to force the excess heat out of thetrike. We used this type of ducting on race cars to cool the brakes. Blocking off the grill and redirecting the heat down under so the forward motion of the trike will carry it away. Another way would be to mount a small fan under bodywork to blow the heat down and away if you had room for a fan. This is my first Can-Am and I don't have any experience with the older units.I just know that if I had an issue like the heat I would look outside of the available corrections that are for sale. Mama ain't happy,you won't be riding as much.

start with Spyder Pops block off and then add Baker Air Wings. They make a huge difference!
