I have an 89 883 that my wife would like to made into a trike. I'm 53 years young and love to ride. I am a fair wrench doing all work on both of my Sporties.

I figgure the folks on this forum would have a lot of mistakes covered and some good advice for someone new to this type of riding. I look foward to helping and would like to be helped too.

Welcome to TT from your fellow Texas members!!! I see you live pretty close to the mountains. Must be some really cool riding up there! You are probably correct on the trike builds. We seem to learn from our mistakes unfortunately..... I bet you'll get lots of advise.

Well if she likes it and rides it I have a plan to do a 1250 jugs and 560 cams 61 cc heads w/ 1.76 and 1.58 valves. Plus some othre go fast goodies. That 883 is tough I will say that!!

Welcome from Wyoming, I also have a 1989 model but mine is a converted Tour Glide Ultra Classic.

I get through Salmon from time to time, was there last year in Sept. Hope the fires won't destroy everything this year.
I will be in the lost river area next week somewhere near Arco, Id.

Consider getting a raked triple tree for ease of handling and putting on air suspension shocks to improve the ride. Make her love it so she doesn't loose interest.
There are quite a few of us that have done the conversion ourselves.

A bit of advice?
Purchase a complete kit instead of doing it piece meal and you will be allot happier.
Also on the early model like the 1989 make sure you get a kit to beef up the top engine mount as there will be a very good chance of breaking it if you don't and you don't want your engine twisting sideways in the frame when you take off or get on the throttle, makes a hell of a mess!
