Like to hear inputs on weight on your wing for extended trips? I know everyones body weight is different, But are you keeping weight on bike no more than max allowed on the wing, which I think is 437 pounds Fuel,passengers,luggage? And if Im correct don't believe just because we added 2 wheels doesn't mean you can carry more than 2 wheeled weight.

We hae a GL1800, Champion trike kit. On major distance rides we start with us, full tank of gas, I'd guess around 70lbs(give or take 10lbs) of gear and misc. in the trike trunk, the original upper trunk and a Kury rack bag on the upper trunk rack, and 40 - 45 lbs tounge weight on the hitch from the 450lb fully loaded Bunkhouse Camper. So the total would be about 490lbs starting off, not including the weight of the camper, just the toungue weight, and that weight gets about 30 lbs less as gas us used.

I am sure there is a big safety margin in the official Mother Honda weight recommendations because, well, lawyers. On my 2013 Bonneville the book says I can carry my hunderd and *ahem* lb wife on the pillion but i can only strap on 11lbs (5kg)of stuff to the same seat. Seems there are more warnings of imminent death than actual vehicle information in the Triumph owner's manual.

All of the Maximum Weights posted by Manufacturers are relatively conservative. I, like most every Biker, have exceeded the Manufacturers Suggested Weight Limits. Now, yes a Trike is more than capable of carrying more weight than a 2-Wheeler. You now have an Automotive Rearend (in most cases), an extra Wheel, heavier built Rear Wheels and Tires, etc. As in ALL ventures though, Less is always better than More. It's Best to learn to travel as light as possible.....

Just saying. At Americade 2 weeks ago I saw a Goldwing go by me loaded with close to 1,000 lbs. and they were carrying nothing with them. Like I said just saying.

When I long haul travel, I make sure the trike is fairly empty and all the "stuff" is in the trailer with minimum tongue weight. Take the stress out of the trike suspension and put it on the trailer.

It depend to you that what is the status of your bike rather it carry maximum weight and i think during the bike trip you must need to carry minimum weight and your body weight is also matter...

The wife and I went to Alaska for the month of June. My Trike waited 1150 lbs empty. The wife and I are about 350 total. I pulled my Dart trailer. It was about 400 - 450 lbs loaded with a 45 lb. tongue weight. Rode 11,500 miles without a problem. Good luck. Be safe and enjoy the ride. Larry
