    Default TPMS after trike conversion...

I have a '12 with TPMS that is getting triked with a '14 Motortrike Razor. I didn't get to ask installer, but will my TPMS be disabled, or is there a way to leave it intact for the front wheel?
    Thanks!

Disabled (as with all Trike conversions currently) unless you purchase and install one of the after-market TPMS Kits. There are a few out there as well as a few Dealer/Installers who sell them. Ask yours about those if you wish to have that function post-conversion. If they don't, contact Gregg at Gene's Gallery in Springfield, MO. They have carried those for a while now and can provide a TPMS Kit for self-install if you want. Those are listed on Gene's Website if you want to check them out.

Thanks for the reply. I kind of thought so, but why won't a single sender unit work???

The other option is to do what I did and go with an aftermarket Garmin 590LM. That gives me a great GPS, a TPMS (as many tires as I want to buy sensors for), Weather, Pandora, and turn by turn directions through the Honda audio system.

Couldn't ask for a better setup.

IMO, I don't miss the TPMS on my 12 Wing. I've used a good pressure gauge and checked my pressures frequently for years. Not all TPMS systems will catch a tire going down right away. Last year on the 2012 Toyota Tundra I used to have, I had a large rock punch a hole in my left front tire. I drove 10 miles all the while it leaked down.

My brother who happen to be in the parking lot of the store I was shopping in called me and told me it was sitting on the rim. The hole was close to 3/4", I don't know how it didn't go totally flat right away. I do know it had to be pretty darn low when I parked it 10 miles later and the TPMS indicator light had not lit yet.

My 2012 CSC has been disabled.

I agree with msocko... no need.
I like it on the truck and car, but ignore it on the bike.

I just wrote the check today for a CSC Viper today and had this conversation with the installer. He told me that under the right front panel they make a change with a jumper that disables the monitoring of the rear tire but still reads the front pressure.

They did the same on my Roadsmith, make sure they get the jumper crimped good, my TPMS light came on during the initial ride home, had to take it back, they said they were getting some bad crimps.

I also have a 2012 Wing converted in May with the Motor Trike Razor kit. Before the conversion I was having MAJOR issues with the TPMS SYSTEM light coming on (only when I was not at the Dealership). Of course the service dept needed the light on to diagnose which tire had a battery going bad causing the light to come on irregularly. They assured my that the conversion would include disconnecting the system. After the conversion, when I took delivery, the light was off. However, as soon as I headed home it came back on. I was very irritated and returned to the dealership a few days later. After a partial disassembly of the body, they found the change (I can't remember what it is called, but they bridged the connection at the factory) came undone and they needed to redo it. Now the light stays off and I am happy. I prefer to check the tires myself.

Monitoring and Checking those Tires "manually" before every Ride is a Great Way to spot Other Possible Problems before hand.....I prefer to rely on a hand held pressure gauge with my Trikes, Motorcycles, and Scooters.......

My intention with this thread was to find out if after triking, the front TPMS is still functioning.

I always check my tires with a good guage, but it would be nice to know, when tooling down the highway, if your front tire has a leak and loosing air.

I still don't believe that anyone has verified this.

As was stated earlier, the TPMS (System) is de-activated (both tires) if you want one in Trike mode, you must go with an after market system.

Reading the Posts, "MOST" Kits require it being eliminated...at least one example was given for re-implementing the Front only...Several Members stated using the Aftermarket Route.......

I don't rely on gizmos to inform me of something as important as tire pressure. Most of the time these things don't inform you of a problem until way after the fact. I drove the 2012 Tundra I had 10 miles with a right front tire which had a good sized leak in it, the TPMS never told me the tire was low until it was flat.
