Almost a triker

Thanks! The boot has it's draw backs though. 'Pest sez I gotta make my own d@m breakfast now! That, & now being somewhat mobile again, I want to get out & DO something -- like RIDE!!! Doc said "NO" to that yesterday though. DRAT!! Gotta keep in mind, it's only for 2 more weeks. When I first started down this road, Doc said 8 - 12 weels 'cuz I'm OLD & I smoke. 2 more weeks will be 6 weeks -- Docs aren't ALWAYS right!! :)

Another step closer! Got kit ordered today from Roadsmith! Estimated 3 week delivery, so that'll gove me a week to get ankle limbered back up & ready to go to work on the conversion. :) Also gives me a week to get down to Nelson's Landing for one last pic of bike before the conversion.

NM...I mentioned earlier that I was going with the MT IRS Advantage Kit. The kit came in, and a few days ago I stopped by the shop to take a picture or two. I'll include one from the rear end. Looks like I might be able to give it a spin prior to the new year. Got both fingers crossed.
I'll be gone for most of the coming week, but hopefully will find things ready to roll....:D

Looking GOOD, CandyO. I'm guessing my kit is still at least 2 weeks away, so you'll get to enjoy yours before I do. :( Let us know when you're mobile again!

we have always flown out there, then rented a car. but, i've always wanted to ride the trike out. a friend is planning a ride to lv this coming summer, and has asked the wife and i to tag along. if everything works out, we will ride out. i'll be sure to let you know. if you get back this way, holler-i'll take you on some non-gravel roads that are fun-dave:D

Great! Keep me posted on when you're going to come out. There are several nice "short" rides in the area. As for the gravel, once the Ultra grows her 3rd wheel, hopefully it won't bother me so much.

I've also contemplated on which conversion to go with and after extensive research decided on Roadsmith for many reasons...Roadsmith has very good reputation and of course independent suspension, which was important to me.

Also, take a look at the attached comparison spreadsheet, which should help with your research. I have chosen the Trike Shop of Daytona to do my conversion. They did a very good job and I highly recommend them.

Good Luck!

Looks like you put as much research into which kit to get as I did. I also ended up ordering a Roadsmith 2 weeks ago. At present, it's scheduled to ship in about 1 more week. Your installer is WAY too far away to do me any good. I'm going to do the conversion myself. Did a tool check a few days ago & liiks like I'll need to borrow a couple of torque wrenches from SIL. Got rid of boot today so I can get out & get started taking things appart. Doc said I couldn't ride my "bike" for another month. Didn't say anything about not riding a trike! I wish they offered the aux fuel tank for Harleys.

I'll have to come up with something for that, but other than that, I THINK I have all the ducks lined up.

Good! There are a couple of spots like that in my favorite camp ground in Southern UT. NASTY stuff! Have to be REALLY careful or that stuff can dump ya on a bike. It's sure going to be nice not having to worry about falling down anymore!!
It'll depend on how much room I have for a tank & what's available. If push comes to shove, I CAN build what I need. I DO NOT reccomend that solution for just anyone. It's NOT a simple matter of just building a box or cylinder or whatever shape is needed. The biggest drawback of tank building is the liability involved -- why I'd prefer to get a ready made tank. I'd like to have at least 2 gal extra, but would prefer 4.5 gal which would give me a 9.5 gal total. The fuel milage on my Ultra has been so erratic, it'd be just my luck to be on one of those 150 mi between gas satations roads we have out here & all of a sudden the mileage drops to 28 with only 5 gal on board. I almost had that happen with the old Honda 305 between Salina & Green River UT back when they were still building I 70 across there. Ran out on the reserve, but that tank actually had 2 reserves. Had to lay the bike down on it's left side to get the last little bit from the right side of the tank to where I could use it.

That extra little bit ran out just as I pulled up to the pump in Green River, so only had to push it about 5' instead of 5 miles. Do not care to repeat that now!
Things are MUCH closer to me being a real triker! Trike Shop called today & said my kit ships tomorrow with a 4 day shiping time. OK, well, New Years holiday will mess up the 4 days, but it'll be here next week! Called the HD dealer & the AIM reverse kit and Triglide tripple tree had arrived today. Got rid of "the boot" yesterday, so things are starting to go my way! Hopefully, this will get 2010 started off right!! Happy New Year EVERYONE!!
