Removing rear wheels on TG .

yes letting the wheels hang lower helps when jacking from the frame..But you still have to wiggle and jiggle a bit..That is something that HD should have addressed years ago. Taking the rear wheels off can be a hassle..
 
I did jack it up at the frame, so I guess that's as good as it gets . I don't think letting the air out would help ?

Yes and then again no..Tried that myself..Best bet is jacking at the frame high and adding air the rear shocks to lower the rear axle..
