07 Venture front tire?

I need to replace the front tire on my Venture / Hannigan Trike.

I have the bike tire on it now, but thought I had read somewhere that I should put a car tire on it now that it is a trike.

What brand(s) / tire(s) is everyone putting on?

Am I limited on choice?

Can my local bike dealer install it? (I don't feel comfortable letting a car tire retailer at my bike)

Have not heard that anyone has put a car tire on the front of a Venture. Folks use a rear motorcycle tire on front of their trikes. Michelin Commander II bias tire is a good tire for the Venture. Many folks reverse mount the rear tire on the front, but folks have different opinions about this.

I'm not aware of a car tire that will fit the RSV front, if you find one, let us all know.

I am running a Mich. Commander II in reverse rotation up front. 7000 miles on it and looks & feels like new.

Oops. Apparently I got it wrong.

oh well, I guess I won't be selling my rear tire from the conversion after all.

too bad, I would like to have had car tires on all three.

Venture rear tire will not fit front wheel. Different sizes...

We got 17,000 miles out of a Avon Venom rear tire that we had on the front of our RSV trike. Tire still had plenty of tread, but it was cupping. Decided to replace it on a trip to Texas. Afraid tire would heat up. Maybe someone can provide information about the Michelin Commander II.

Craig, you will probably only get one season out of the stock front tire, depending on how much you ride. I put a Dunlop E-3 rear on mine and I'm on the third season now...

I have 17k on my tire. Back tire in the front will get you good miles. I wouldn't use a car tire. That's my opinion.

So what you are going to be looking for is a 150 16 the size for your front, in a rear tire configuration. That will give you a thicker rubber in the middle where you now need it as you wont be leaning in the curves. It will also have a higher load rating which will help also. All of this adds up to greater tire life. I have been running a Bridgestone on the front of my 1990 Goldwing for 13,000 miles and it is just now starting to show some wear. I think I will get 20k or more out of it before I have to replace it. Avon, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Michelin all make good tire that will fit your bike.

After hours of research here and other sites, I decided to put a rear Michelin Commander II in reverse on the front my 07 Venture/Hannigan. Have not rode it yet; in shop now--tire being put on and prep for season. Lot's of positives from trikers about this tire. I'm about a year old with trikes, very old with 2 wheels. If you decide to do this, you might want to make sure the tire installer will do (legalities--understandable). Mine did after contacting Hannigan/others. Have not seen good or bad about Avon Trike tire????

The Avon tire is probably a little too new for there to be much rider input on it yet. I also think that they are not made yet in a size for your Venture. I think ( but could be wrong) that they are only made in an 18 inch size for Goldwings at this time.
