BG, you know Janice and I will keep in touch. We will even share pictures of our flowers when they are in bloom.
Never give up, and we are sure you are doing your best to get around.
We could not make MV this year either, but we will be there in Spirit, just like you!
As they use to say, See you on the flip..flop! LOL

You'll notice that on the sub-heading about the Maggie Valley event it is called the Maggie Valley Gathering. It is a rally in the definition of a gathering of like-minded people, in this case trikers.
There aren't any vendors, though some of the site sponsors may attend as "regular people" and not necessarily to garner business. There are rides - organized, disorganized, just take off and go, and most likely a trip to "Wheels Through Time", an awesome (I mean that in the original sense of the word, not the watered-down use you hear these days) exhibit of vintage American motorcycles, and they run. (We were there once and Dale, the owner, did a burnout down the aisle on a 1940 Crocker!) Just that place is worth the trip.
The main attraction? Some of the finest folks you will meet. That reason is enough for me, but combine that with the fantastic riding, great scenery, and a lot of eye candy with 3 wheels it is a Must Go event.
I did this post at work between being called away many times, and it took me more that an hour to write it up. Zook beat me to it, and he was much more succinct.

Nancy, I'm so sorry to hear this!! I know John will be taking real good care of you, and I'll give you a call in a few days when my schedule settles and I can sit and talk for a bit. I'll be thinking of both of you!!
As for me, not sure I'm going to make MV either. Money is scarce, and I no longer have anyone to watch the fur-babies during the week. I'm hoping & praying for that lottery win, but so far nothing. Which stinks, because I REALLY wanted to be there this year!!

Has there been any type of itinerary discussed for this gathering? ie: schedule of events, rides, cookouts, etc.? I have read about a cookout at wheels through time and a group going to Biltmore house, but nothing else.
This is our first time attending this type get together so don't really know what to expect. We have attended other Motorcycle and Auto events over the years and had a pretty good idea what to expect, but not sure in this case.
I'm sure it will be great with such a great group of folks, just trying to get a better idea what to expect.

Hello Dan the wife and I have made only 3 trike talk gathering and I must tell you it is very, very addictive if you make one you want to do more, just think of fun, eat & rides with a grate group of triker's and you have it. Darlene and I will be there and look forwards to meeting you'll
Checked it out on line, the Biltmore looks amazing, but $60 to look at a house is a bit much. Gas is around $2.50/gal in Maggie Valley according to Gas buddy. Depending on how we ride and what we pull, figuring we get between 30 and 35 mpg (those are low estimates) that is between 720 and 840 miles of even more amazing riding. Anyone want to venture a guess what i'll choose?

Looking at map, I see The Dragon is 68 miles away. Never been. Wouldn't mind riding there.
Beautiful ride just getting there. Also Hwy 28 (The Moonshiner 28) is also a great ride down to Franklin NC. Just about anywhere on the BRP is good riding. The Dragon is NOT a sight seeing route, it is a hands on stay alert watch other riders/cars and be as defensive as possible kind of riding. But still enjoyable and memorable as any place you will ever ride. When you do it...you will buy a tee shirt and can say "Been there...Done that...got the tee shirt to prove it!" LOL

TT, it appears we have issues resolved so we can attend this fine Rally, and have not yet cancelled Best Western. Really wanted to attend our 'first', and get one last big ride in. Mid-September I have the unfortunate experience of a reverse shoulder replacement, so my riding is gonna be curtailed for a while.
