Part 2 - TPMS after trike conversion...

The 2009 -2014 GL‐1800 is equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitor System.

To bypass this system '09-'10, you will need to take out the right front fairing pocket, on 2012 > remove headlight adjust panel.

Next, located the gray plug and take off the yellow holder.

Next, jumper the white wire with the yellow tracer to the solid green wire.

This will eliminate the rear wheel signal. The front wheel will still be active.

The light (TPMS) will come on and then go out when the bike goes above 25 MPH.

Can anyone confirm ?

I want my TPMS light to go out, and still have it monitor the front tire.

I just got my trike back last week after having a Roadsmith kit installed on my 2010 Goldwing, they told me the front was still active. After riding it 75 miles home the TPMS light came on just as I pulled into my driveway and hasn't gone out since, I don't need it anymore, can I just pull a fuse to shut the whole TPMS system off, I'm thinking my front transmitter may have crappped out.

Sorry Brother, I really don't have any info on fuses. Some of them are dual purpose.

I would look under the right hand pocket and see if you can find any place they jumpered/spliced. Maybe the connection came loose.

By the way, the instructions that I posted, that came from MT, don't appear to work... either that or my front tire hasn't lost the 2~3 pounds of air that it usually does.

I checked in my Goldwing service manual and it says if the TPMS light stays on there is some glitch in the system such as a dead transmitter battery or bad or damaged transmitter, I'm going to call the Service writer at the Honda shop where I got the trike converted and see what he says, I just want it shut off, not worth the hassle of repairing it. I will let you know what they tell me at the dealership.

I am interested in the response you receive also. Mine had been working fine since last October when I bought the bike. An 09 GL 1800 with a Roadsmith conversion. A couple of weeks ago while we were on a road trip it started blinking. The day before while I was checking my tire pressure my tire gauge blew apart so I was concerned that the pressure was low but the gas station gauge said it was OK. I couldn't believe how many gas stations didn't have tire gauges for sale. I finally bought a tire pressure gauge and now my idiot light stays on all of the time. I will see if I can find the gray connector and see if it is corroded or if the jumper has come loose.

Im not sure my front has ever worked since Im not the original owner.
If MT does disconnect it. I cant see the reason why.
Having the front at least working is still got to be a plus Id think.
I don't see an upside to disconnecting what to me is a safety device???
Id be a lot happy if it worked on all 3 wheels.

It has to be disconnected or your 'TPMS' light stays on forever.

I just talked to the Service Advisor at the Honda shop, when they install the trike kit on a bike with TPMS they jumper two wires going to the TPMS receiver to disable the rear tire but leave the front activated. They said they have had some problems with the crimp connectors on the jumper and it will be an easy fix. As long as the front tire sender still works and I can monitor it I will leave it hooked up, once the front tire sender craps out I'm going to have it shut off.

Took my trike to the Honda shop today to get the TPMS problem fixed, when they jumpered the two wires to disable the rear tire the crimp connectors they have been using have been causing problems, they re crimped it and so far it is working properly and I still have monitoring of the front tire.

Are you sure the front tire is still being monitored?

I wouldn't know how to check it unless you let out about 5 lbs of air from the front tire and go take a ride... see if the led comes on.

Maybe I'll try that today.

Good point, guess I'll do the same to see if mine is really working.
