Default J&S or Pit Bull lift ???

The J&S looks easier to use not having to deal with the adaptor.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    SR

either one works fine..if you don't want to deal with the adapter..go with the J&S jack..But keep in mind you will not be able to lift a 2 wheeled bike with it..Just a thought..

I've got a J&S trike lift. Rock solid unit.

2nd lift that I purchased from them. Sold the first bike lift when I sold the Ultra and bought the trike. As soon as the Trike Lift was available I put one under the Trike.

They now have an adapter for the Trike Lift that allows you to convert it for use on two wheel bikes. $32.95 for the adapter.

Perfect timing. I was looking for something to buy and didn't think of a lift. Any thoughts or other mfg lifts?

I have the J&S and have been very happy with it. I didn't know they made a conversion kit. I kept my old 2wheel lift. But now I can get rid of it and use my trike lift for all. By the way my old lift was also a J&S, but now is 12 years old and still works fine. Great product and great people to deal with.

I have a pit bull and the only advantage that I can see is you can jack from both sides of the trike.

Can this be used on a J&S bike lift to convert to a trike lift?? I have their 2 wheel version when I had my Ultra and would love to convert instead of dishing out more money for another lift.

Rax, after watching the install video on their website, I'd say yes you could, but I'd contact them to be 100% sure - I could have missed something.

I also watched a video on youtube showing a comparison on the Harbor Freight, Pitbull and J&S lifts. That sold me - J&S is the one for me.....plus I get a veterans discount.

I also have someone in my chapter interested in buying my old one. I'm asking $175. It's a Bikers Choice model (in great condition) that I bought at a Harley dealer for $350 a few years ago

If she changes her mind is anyone else interested in making an offer????

GARYD: Thanks for the you tube tip. I found the comparison video and that sure sold me on the J&S

    Thanks SR

well watched that video and laughed how they did the test on the floor seams..If you raise the lifts straight up and down they would all go over the floor seams fine. The center of gravity changes by the angle of the lift.

I am sure they are all good jacks for there particular use.

Good luck on your decision..There are a lot of lifts out there..

I own a Pit Bull and like it. I have never seen a J&S in person or used one but my pit bull seem to do just fine. Bought it used. I used it on my Ultra Glide. Bought the adapter for my Tri-Glide that will be ready here in any day. They are bought good jacks from what I read. I think the height might be a concern to some guys. J&S at 18" raised vs Pit bull at 25".

I purchased a J&S jack over the winter. I'm totally terrified by it, not at all what I expected from all the positive feedback from this forum. I'm obviously not understanding the placement under the bike to make me comfortable. I watched the video numerous times and it looks to me the jack handle when properly placed under the bike should line up close to the center line of the folded passenger board. I can't do that lineup cause I have to approach from an angle to get the jack under the bike. For me to go straight in the jack hits the fender or the tire. What am I doing wrong.? It is an expensive ornament in the garage, Totally miffed by this jack!

If you look at the video on J&S jack they have the trike shocks all pumpped up which clears the fenders..

Also you have to position the jack under both sides of the frames of the bike and under the swingarm in the center as much as possible..The trike should be good for a lift off..

The directions on the adapter for the pitbull is to ride or push the back tires up on a set 1x6 or 2x6 to get the clearance to roll the jack under the tri glide.

trikermutha: How can you tell that the shocks are all pumped up ?

ttanthony: Do you have to air your shocks up to get the trike lift under the trike. I have the Tri Glide stock no lift kit.

    Thanks a lot. SR

The reason I like the J&S lift vs the Pitbull was the width of the lift mechanism. The J&S was way wider = more stable. Rolling over the crake doesn't concern me, I have a flat floor. I also would like to know how you can tell if the shocks are "all pumped up".

Any other problems with the J&S?

Is it a fact that you have to use boards to raise the TG for the Pitbull?

I am going to buy a lift, but want to get one that really works well, considering the costs. The video sure looks good for the J&S - unless it's all smoke and mirrors.

All I am saying is the lower the rear end is on the trike the frame is lower to the ground which makes it harder to maneuver the jack under the trike..The videos shows you all is wonderfull. Just wanted to give you a heads up..
You still has to position whatever lift you buy if the proper spot under the trike for it to be stable and safe..

You can buy whatever you want..Good luck..

I was just quoting what the instructions said for the adapter that is used on the Pit bull. I haven't tried it yet. I am still waiting for my triglide to come out of the shop. Replacing a few things that had to be ordered. Getting a little anxious.
