New here guys and gals.. A little background...Retired U.S. Marine. Lost both legs in Iraq in 2006. Wanting to put together a trike for me and the mrs to ride. My dilemma is there is honestly too much info out there for my brain to cypher(I'm just a grunt). So what im asking is opinions on the difference between an outrigger style kit vs the fixed axle style kits.
You guys that have been trikers for a while, maybe you can tell me which style of setup would be better for my situation. Im from lower Alabama if theres anyone down this way that can show me in person one or the other styles. Thanks.
Cool. Thank you.

he is in exactly your position and I bet he can steer you to what works and what don't!
By the way, under certain conditions you can get an outrigger style stuck. If the center tire cant make contact your pushing.

the difference between a good trike and a bad one depends entirely on the integrity of it's builder!
Welcome to Trike Talk, and thank you for your service!

Out rigger is training wheel style. ( still has the original rear motorcycle tire ) so it is a 4 wheeler. Solid axle has a rear wheel drive car rear end. The other is independent rear. This has 2 separate axles. Rear wheels move independently.
Hope that helps .
When I am gona fix something I will fix it. You don't have to bug me every 6 months.

we all have our faults .....others point them out to us......guess we know what theirs are
Cool. Got a buddy from jasper. We do a lot of rock crawling up there. I'm down in mobile.
Just down your way this past week , spent seven days in Gulf Shores . We have a friend who owns one of the 200 RV parks around there LOL . Rode through Mobile on the way to the casinos one day ( lost 11.00 , played a few hours and drink about five of their drinks ) . I'm not a gambler , like the lights and BOOZE !!!!!!!!!
These guys do put a ton of money into their rock crawlers up here , you do the Mount Olive or the Cullman trails ? People are beginning to come from all over to the big Cullman tracks hauling their side by sides and other off road vehicles .
Like I said earlier if there's anything I can do to help just let me know and good luck with your choice .

Hello Sgt.Greg and welcome to the website from the U.P. of Michigan. First, from a Vietnam Vet, thank you for your service and sacrifice for my every day freedoms. Second, with Wheels on your side, you could ask for no better. He has had the experience of working thru the red tape to accomplish the same thing. And he's got a great personality to boot.Ride safe.
