How do you carry spare gas?

This goes back to werewolf's thread about 5 gallon tanks, but I didn't want to hijack his thread.

I'm looking for a practical way to carry an extra gallon if anyone has any ideas. Space is very limited and I have no place to carry a regular gas can.

To those of you who carry extra gas, what are you using and where do you put it?

In past, I used to carry 1 gallon plastic can in saddlebag (with other things that don't matter if they smell of gas). Currently, I usually bungy it down somewhere on luggage rack. Usually I only want the extra gallon west of the Mississippi.

Extra gas

I carry 2 small bottles made especially for gas. They are made by Coleman and used by the forestery service for chain saws. They are leak proof and emit no fumes. They only hold about a quart of gas and I figure that should get me to the next station. Been carrying them for 3 years now with no problems.

Someone gave me a can that fits in the saddlebag of the Harley a few years ago. I have seen them in the J&P and Dennis Kirk catalogs, and in a few motorcycle shops.

Mine has sat in my garage, as I generally keep gas in large underground (sometimes above ground) containers dispersed about the country. Though back in the day when I had my iron head Sporty with a peanut tank - less than 90 mile range - there were times I wished I had a bottle of extra gas.

Gas can takes up to much space, my wife would
not have room for the kitchen sink when we travel.

We have made long trips and never run out of gas, been down to 10 miles left in tank twice. But I knew the location of my next fuel stop.

I track the mileage that I get per tank and the riding conditions and adjust fuel stops accordingly, but still hard to account for days when you run into a strong headwind or another condition that sends your MPG in the wrong direction.

We've got a dune buggy tank mounted on our daytrip trailer.
Hooks up to the trike through a marine coupler on the hitch.
Have a RV valve controlled by a switch on the panel.

I utilize one of those Reda 1gal gas containers that are designed to fit inside saddlebags. I just push it to the back of my trunk and pack around it. True, little bit of pain to access but as most, watch my mileage and conditions to where I don't have to use it...... BUT, it's there if necessary.

The first filling spout they had on the Reda containers, EPA approved, were a PITA but visiting with the owner of the company at Sturgis and expressing that PITA fact he gave me one of their new spouts which is 1000% better. (screw the EPA)

My tank is molded to the underside of the body and has a motorcycle fuel valve that I cut to give me a 2 gallon reserve. Not sure how yours is set up but maybe you can switch yours out.
