    Default Roadsmith Turn Signal

Is the bulb in the fender turn signal an 1156, single element?

How do you gain access to the bulbs to change them?

    No!

Jack up the side you need to change bulb in
    Remove tire
Look in the rear fender well, you should see 3 nuts in a triangular pattern
Remove those nuts, lamp then pulls out to the rear.
Rotate socket, pull out of housing, buld pulls straight out as it is a wedge base bulb.
Put on gloves to handle replacement bulb. Clean it w/isopropol aclohol prior to installing in socket.

You have to take the housing off. There are some small bolts, I don't know what size that are accessible from inside the fender.
They are not 1156 bulbs they are the slide in single element amber bulbs. I don't know what the part number other than the Honda part which doesn't do a ot of good here. Once you get your housing out then you can see the number on the bulb. Sorry I can't be any more help than that.

The correct terminology is Lamp Assembly, which the housing is a part of, along with the lens. The lens and the housing are bonded together. Do not try to separate them

Everyone on the GL1800 forum are saying a 7443 bulb. Look for an amber one.

!st, my apologies to MSsgt as it looks like I'm dissing you with my responses. That is not my intent in any way, shape or form.
I worked in Exterior Lighting during my time w/GM is the reason, I am again responding.
Placing an amber bulb behind an ambler lens will cut down on the perceived "brightness" of the bulb when flashing.
    I would not do this.

For folks with a GL1500 HT1500 Roadsmith conversion, I do believe they are 1157 bulbs and I think you can just remove the plug by twisting as there seems to be room between the tire and taillight housing from underneath. I think the taillight housing is glued or epoxied into the fiberglass fender.
