Trailer Dolly

For those who have tandem trailers and need to move them in tight areas with slope, how do you do it? Do you have a trailer dolly, manual or power, to assist you in moving.

I've got a garden tractor with a 3point hitch. I added a ball mount tomy rear weight bracket to move my trailers. The front is a little light if I don't put on the front weights when moving my 1600 lb car trailer.

Thanks, but no luck on a garden tractor here. Anybody use a Trailer Valet to move their trailer?
Reviews on the product are good and bad.

WE had one that was used for the boat. Worked good for that. They don't work well at all on grass. For a tandem trailer I would think it would be heavy built. The narrow with of them can cause a problem some times. I use my lawn mower

Dirtdobber, thank you for getting back to me. You said you use your lawn mower to move the trailer now, correct? Do you have any pictures you can post. I haven't measured my lawn mower but I would think it would be low. The hitch on the tandem trailer is 17".
You got rid of your Trailer Valet, how long did you have it and besides the grass, what other problems did you have with it? Did you have any problem mounting it on the tandem boat trailer? $299 is a lot if it isn't going to do the job.

The dolly's are narrow, wheel width, so with sharp turns it can roll over on it's side or try to. I made a hitch that raises the ball for it to work. When dad passed away, he was my fishing partner, I quiet fishing. Since then I have converted it into a trailer for my sprayer, killing poison oak.

I don't have any photos but I may have my hitch laying around somewhere. I will look and see. I did have to add a 1/4 inch steel to when the ball goes to add strength. DR carries a electric version of a dolly. The 4 wheel dolly worked the best.
Where are you located?
If you were close enough I can make you one easy enough. I am not trying to sell products I am only offering my service for free.
If you can send me a photo of your lawn mower I can still make you one. Only cost will be materials. Adapter to raise the ball for the trailer to fit.

Rosy, I'm don't know if you like to build your own stuff, but I made several movers out of used elec walk-behind pallet jacks for my shops. I modified them to move vehicles & trailers, use to be able to buy used ones cheap & worked great.

Here is the story on the trailer dolly. I may use it three times a year to move the trailer where it is parked during the summer to a different place in the driveway during the winter months so I can snowblow. Or to load the trike to go on vacation.
Do I want to spend a great deal of money, not really, but, if I must to do the job without killing myself, OK, then let's look at it.
My parking area at home is not very large, so there is a premium for parking space, and can be tight to maneuver the trailer with my truck.
The Trailer Valet is $299, will it do the job, maybe, you tell me if you have used one and would or would not recommend it.
Yes, there are a lot of electric movers out there, how much $400+? Can I make one, not really, don't have the equipment to do it. Will I buy one, that's a lot of money to use three times a year.
See my plight, that's why I am asking for advise.

Tell us about your trailer, make, size, weight & tongue weight, that info might help with suggestions.
I have never used the Trailer Valet so I can't if it will work for you or not, I have used a unit similar to the Mighty Mover and it worked great.

Does that red lawn tractor, behind your trailer, run? If it runs than I think it would be easy for you to add a draw bar to a hand dolly and attach it to the front or back of the tractor for moving your trailer. Mounting on the front makes steering your trailer easy.

That's the people who own the trailer's tractor. Those pictures were taken at his house! LOL
I guess I am going to have to get creative here and figure something out, even if I buy a manual trailer mover and attach it to my riding lawn mower to move the trailer, but I will have to work on the brakes to make sure it holds on my slope of the driveway. Or, spend $299 and get the Trailer Valet to move the trailer around the driveway. Some one said they use a portable drill to make it easier when using the Valet, instead of the crank handle.

I want to Thank Everyone who made suggestions for a trailer dolly. I guess no one has the Trailer Valet to help them move trailers around tight areas.
I heard from a friend, moving a twin axel trailer is hard to do without a truck. So, it will take forever to get it where I want it for the winter because it is a tight spot with little turning room.
