Sure it will work. That is known as a Type 4 engine, the same engine that was used in the Porche 914 but it is not a Porsche engine, it's a VW bus engine so parts are cheaper. Some of them came with fuel injection but I think most people replace the FI with carbs. The cooling fan and some external parts are different but basically they are the same as a Type 1 engine and you get more displacement than the older VW engines which is always a good thing.
Yup! It'll go right on there! Post lotsa pics so the folks here can help you along if you need it.

If it disturbs you, it's wrong until either the machine or your mind is changed." - Robert M. Pirsig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry Into Values
Did you ever further with your T4 engine into a trike? Love to see pics? Im doing one right now. Its easyish but not a bolt on application.
Noticed this is your first post ... Welcome to the Gang ... If you could post some pics of your build we'd love it. Most people here love build threads. Maybe start a new thread about your build. You can post pics and problems or successes and share your pain and your gain .. LOL .. I have a Harley Tri Glide, but watching vw and other home mades, I've added building my own trike to my bucket list.
Anyway, again welcome, don't be a stranger. The VW forum is one of the most active and has some great VW gear heads (a term of endearment) who are always glad to help.
