Depending on the type extension you got, that's pretty much the case. You'll need to either leave or add a "jam nut" on the origional shifter so your extension stays where you want it. For some reason, locktite doesn't seem to work well in this aplication. You can find shifter extensions at almost any truck stop -- straight ones, bent ones, etc.. Just pick up the proper size thread that matches your shifter in the shape you want. Take your knob to an auto parts place & see which bolt screws in easily & match that size, unless you're like me & can "eyeball it". The shifter extensions are USUALLY the same thread on both ends except one end is "male" & the other "female". It states on the package which thread it is.
