Default Proud Owner of a 2015 FLRT

Well, I just bought an FLRT - Freewheeler.

Drove out to see the one on the floor in New Castle, PA and liked what I saw. Dave was great and answered all my question, even though I told him upfront I was there because my local dealer did not have one.

Anyway, on the way back home I decided to swing by my local dealer, Lake Erie Harley, and let them know I wanted one.....I bought three bikes from them in the past and feel comfortable with them; and, they seemed more than willing to work with me, given my medical issues. They called around and secured one for me and we did the deal.

I am just getting use to the reality that my days on 2 wheels is over; so, while I am always excited to get a new bike, this time the experience is a bit tempered......

I like all the aspects of the FLRT except the wheels - I think they are ugly (just one man's opinion). But, I am hoping that when I climb aboard her for that first ride - that old, special feeling will return again.

    Thanks,

    Springman

Springman it is a hard decision to make the change but once you been on it for awhile you will warm to it. I did not realize how much I was going to like it. Now after about 70k miles in 5 years its just great to be able to get out there. Give it a chance you will be okay

Thanks everyone! I have to say that the anticipation is building, even now I have been thinking of things I would like to do....

Its really good to start to get those old feelings again, even if they are tempered with a bit of uncertainty....

I really am looking forward to getting back on the road again; sometimes I think having that has helped me endure all the medical stuff....

Having that again is most definitely a big up-swing in my life!

    Best Wishes,

    Springman2007

Congrats on the new ride...Springman with you not liking the FLRT wheels made me wonder if the FLRT wheels would work on a Tri...I like the FLRT wheels and I am wanting to go a 19" front...plus I don't care for the Tri wheels...a Tri with FLRT wheels now that is a thought...my new Tri is being put together...so I should have one in the next couple of weeks...

The 'Anarchy' wheels that Harley sells for the Tri are gorgeous, have you checked them out?

Yes I have but still like the FW wheels...stock wheels exchange with Willie Shiny are 800 vs 2k for the Anarchy wheels...I do need to do a search for the spinners...

You sound like me! I traded my Ultra for an '09 Tri-Glide. I wanted a factory built trike so there wouldn't be any warranty problems. Took a while to get used to the 3rd wheel. I've owned a Freewheeler for a month now, bought the first one delivered to the local dealer. I'M IN LOVE!!!! If you have to go trike, as far as I'm concerned the Freewheeler is it. I'm not a storage freak, the trunk has more than enough room. when we travel we attach luggage to the sissy bar. Wife still rides a Tri-Glide, but the Freewheeler is sooooooo much more fun. Ride it in good health!

    Why 3 wheels?

because 2 isn't enough and 4 is too many

Thanks Guys! Having this forum has sure helped me begin this transition. And, the debut of the FLRT has been somewhat "perfect" timing, given my situation. I am very thankful for both!

Now as for the FLRT wheels:

I am sort of old school and don't really like cast rims at all......

I would rather have a good, old fashion, 19x3.5 spoked wheel out front.

And, on the rear, I think I would rather have a set of 15x5.5 steel "Snoothies with chrome ribbed trim rings and plain, chrome center caps.

....have the rims above powder-coated in "Red-Baron" red and hung on some whit-wall tires and it would be heaven-on-wheels to me!

If any of you have any ideas or info as to where/how-to get wheels for the FLRT like above, please pass it along to me - I would be very appreciative for the help.

Another item I need to investigate is if an old- style, auxiliary light setup can be mounted to the FLRT's front - possible the setup for a Road King?

Anyway, that is the style direction I would like my FLRT to go in...

    Congrats on your new ride!

It may take a bit of getting used to, and it is not the same as being on 2 wheels, However, the trike has a whole different kind of fun than 2 wheels in many aspects.
