Hi all,
I have a 2014 Harley Tri Glide Ultra Classic. I'd like to know if I can tow a trailer. It's an American Ledgend. If I can tow, what would be a safe weight? Partner in the 200's and me 140lbs.
Thanks,
Alice

You shouldn't have a problem pulling the trailer with about 100 lbs of gear in it. When I had my 2010 Triglide I pulled an aluma MTC which weighs about 5 lbs less than the American Ledgend, with all the gear it weighed about 275 lbs. With my weight and the wife, I was carrying more passenger weight than you are.
I will say two things about pulling a trailer, one some of the bigger grade hills will cause you to down shift and even down in 5th you engine may struggle. The 2nd item is warranty, most dealers will flag your warranty when they see the trailer hitch. Harley is death on pulling trailers with their bikes and trikes, they will cancel your warranty in a heart beat if they find out.

You will have no problem pulling a trailer with your Trike. We ride 2 up and pull a Bushtec 90% of the time. Never had a problem. Trailer is 125 Lbs and load is normally around 50 Lbs.
Warranty is the issue, some dealers will void it if they see the hitch. All depends on your dealer and what their policy is. The dealer we bought our at said they will honor the warranty as long as we bring to them and if they had to call the factory they would take the hitch off. Ours had the hitch on when we took delivery.
Can't blame the manufacturers. The bikes are designed as 2 wheelers with 2 up capability. When you trike you add extra lbs to the drive train. When you trailer you add more weight. With the Triglide the only issue is with the trailer.
