Default 2014 With No Lift Kit?

Just bought a closeout priced 2014 Tri Glide in the beautiful Blackened Cayenne Sunglo. During their pre-delivery road test, the Service Manager was behind a truck that kicked up a stone and put a good sizes blemish on the left fender. They've ordered a new fender. Meanwhile I had them put on the Street Glide style mirrors and am wondering about adding a lift kit.

Just curious, anyone either look at lift kits and decide not to or just decided your happy with the 2014 the way it is and never bothered to look at them?

Lift kit is a MUST HAVE item for me! tglidestuff or dkcustoms are the ones to get. I have tglidestuff and we love it. 36 psi front, 24 psi rears, 38 psi shocks are our settings (190 + 140 lbs). Congrats!!!

I have the tglidstuff lift. It's also mandatory for me too. I live on a street that is on an incline where it meets the main street. I use to scrape the mufflers at that point - not anymore. And I don't scrape the mufflers on those concrete parking back stops in parking lots anymore. Plus it feels like I can take tight corners faster.

    Highly recommended.

Make that 3 on the lift kit. I also got mine from the triglide stuff guy. I like the look better and I think it handles different for the better that is JMO.

I rode our for several thousand miles with out the lift kit, after scraping mufflers decided to install them. Best mod you can do. Noticed a difference right away better ride (smoother) a little easier to steer and can take corners much better. My wife said on our first ride with the kit what did you do it is much smoother. Well worth the time and money. It rides and handles so much better they should set them up at the factory like this.

Congrats on the '14 TG and add one more to the tGlide Stuff lift kit list. I have it on my '11 TG, I think it was the first or maybe 2nd thing I bought for my TG.

I ride solo. I found just the opposite. The TG seems to ride a bit harsher to me after the install - I feel the expansion joints more now. I just lowered the rear tire pressure to 24 rear with 15psi in the shocks - that seemed to soften it just a little. I don't know why, I didn't feel the harshness when I did the same thing to my 2012 TG. Maybe because I did the 2012 and had the dealer do the 2014(because of the foot brake).

I'm still glad I did it - protecting the mufflers was the priority.

Interesting ... Wife is looking for ANY reason not to spend more money. She'll see this and say Aha! I told you so.

Can you transition onto an inclined street or drive by taking it at an angle to protect the mufflers?

I also ride solo and maybe I add the lift quick enough to not see the difference, but I was more worried about dragging the pipes. The change in ride attitude, looks & handling were more than enough to have/maybe have a little harsher ride.

I keep reading the testomonies but still can't see it. The ride on my new 2015 is just fine. With a bad set of knees the extra height getting on/off isn't something I'd lightly opt for for anything less than seriously noticeable change?

My SE street cannons dragged (now for sale) before I fitted a comfort lift kit from DK Customs. Now they don't drag and the trike steers quicker and easier in the twisties. It looks better than before when it looked like it was dragging it's ass!

Everyone has a different perspective on what is a seriously noticeable change. Just like to one person a set of pipes is not loud and to another the same pipes are obnoxiously loud.

I think with very few exceptions everyone has noticed that the steering is a bit easier...NOT night and day easier, but definitely easier. Most also notice an improvement in ride quality...even something that rides well can always ride better.

I happen to have two TG's here right now, both 14's, one with and one without a lift kit.

The difference in height of the rider floorboard is about 1/2" and passenger 3/4"...just giving you that info for your knees.

If you're happy with the ride, don't drag the pipes, & steering is fine, then there is no need, especially if having the floorboards and seat a bit higher would cause an issue.

The rear subframe and rear suspension are the same on 09-13 as the 14 & 15's. The pipes will drag just as easily, and the rear suspension will ride just the same.

The 14 & 15's do not look as much as a tail dragger because of the redesigned Tour-Pak and slightly different body.

BTW congrats on the new Trike! You got the best color available. I won't say why.

I credit the addition of the lift kit for helping me successfully transition to a 3 wheeler. The handling difference is subtle, but noticeable. Plus, when you observe a Trike with this mod and one that doesn't ...it is VERY noticeable. The lack of rear end sag reaaly stands out. I got mine from Kevin DK Customs.

I stumbled onto an 09 Triglide with 392 miles on it a couple of months ago. After putting a few hundred miles on it, I installed the DK lift kit. 1.25" doesn't sound like much, but it does change the steering. Also, after paying over $600 for V&H mufflers, you don't want to be dragging them around on crappy streets, and let's face it, if you're riding a bike, you're looking for those remote places that don't have the best upkeep on the streets and roads. It's a minimal investment, and easy install if you do it yourself, and about $85 if you pay a shop.

As someone that has had more than a dozen knee ops, including 5 total knee replacements and the owner of a TG with Tglidestuff lifts, I can say that my knees have not complained about the small difference in height. Hope that helps, I know my pipes sure are happy.

I have installed the DK Standard Lift kit on my 2013 Tri-Glide and thought it was the best thing I could have done for the steering, handling, comfort and looks of the Tri-Glide. Also I did not scrap my pipes anymore. That was a problem when going up steep inclines and loading on a trailer. Now I have installed the DK Comfort Lift Kit on my 2015 Tri-Glide and again I find the same improvements. This is by far the best $125.00 I have ever spent on any Harley. Thank You Kevin for a great product.
