Freewheeler mini-mods

I had replaced the lowers on my '09 Tri-Glide with Linby Mustache Bars, used them as highway pegs. When I traded the Tri for my Freewheeler I put the lowers back on and hung the Mustache bars in the garage. Yesterday while looking, it sure appeared the Mustache bars would fit, SOooo, we did a little grinding, some convenient bending and they fit like a glove. Now I have highway pegs on the Freewheeler. These are the same bars I had on my '08 Ultra, and the '09 Tri.

Also ran a multiple USB plug into the trunk. Now I can charge cell phones, MP3 players or whatever while riding. I have an old Samsung Galaxy III phone back there. I can use the GPS and listen to music via Bluetooth ear buds while riding.

Looks like you're getting it the way you want it. For me the bars are a must have for any distance riding .

The passenger back rest?? Very little, it lays flat. Pad is about an inch thick tubes are 1/2 inch.

Meant the new electronic connections you added. Just wondered since the trunk space is smaller on the FW.

Sorry, actually none at all. The trunk liner has a 'lip' near the top that flairs out. The electronics are on that lip.

I have to confess that my initial mods to my Freewheeler was in the foot controls. I removed the heel shifter and installed an extended shift peg on the toe shifter (I have size 14 feet and kept banging into the heel shifter when trying to apply the parking brake). Next, I changed the foot brake; I bought a Softbrake Pedal. The Softbrake pedal is extended an inch and angled down an additional 20 degrees from the stock pedal and makes applying the foot brake a whole lot easier and more comfortable for me.

And, last night I installed analog oil temperature dipstick and transmission temperature dipstick units. I never ran with a trans temperature unit before; but, I figured it my be a good idea to have one on a trike - could hurt anyway.

Couple more 'cheapie' mods. Took the bezel off the dash and used it as a template and cut a 3/16 wooden dash plate. You need this thickness to be higher than the lip on the dash. Covered it in automotive carpet that acts like the 'loop' part of Velcro. Stuck an old Bluetooth capable MP-3 player and now I have a zillion tunes I can listen via my SENA wireless headsets. Power cord comes up under the seat so no problem with battery running out. While the dash was out, ran another USB wire forward to an old GPS unit I stuck on the center compartment of the windshield bags. Wife usually does the navigating, this unit has a driving computer that gives ETA, Mileage remaining, average speed etc. Simple easy stuff.
