99 Honda Goldwing 1500 choke/carb problem

As I have posted, I will be picking up my 1999 Honda Goldwing 1500. In addition to the inoperative tachometer, the choke has to be on for an extended period of time. Even after the engine is warmed up, the choke has to be on some, not completely off. If it is completely off, the engiine will quit at idle. Any suggestions as what to look for when I start riding?

I have worked on a lot of 1500 and what You are going to have to do is either rebuild the carbs, Yourself, and If You have never done it, I would have a good Honda person, that knows carb, take them off and soak them in carb cleaner and put new carb kit in both of them and when, they are on the wing, bal. them together and You wing will run like it is supposed to do.

When I had my 99 Valkyrie I found the slow jets more then likely the culprit when it was running rough.ThumbUp

But then again it had 6 carbs, not like the 1500GW but a carbs a carb with these things.
Make sure none of the rubber anything as in vacuum lines has dried out.....
That bike was a nightmare trying to keeping it running right, with no new carb parts to be had. If new floats were available I might still have it.............sigh.

This has nothing to due with your problem but, just typing out loud here.
I know this should be in another post but today I was looking at the manual for the 1800 and all the smog crap on the 1500 seems to be on the 1800s too for the most part.
A lot of lines to check for leaks on a non desmogged 1500. Much harder to get at on a 1800.:(
