    Default Passenger Assist Handle

I'm not sure if this has ever been brought up before. We have just picked up our new 2015 Tri-Glide. Which by the way we love. My wife was commenting on the fact that the passenger assist handle pressing against her legs. Tried moving the passenger floor boards. If I raise them to the top hole it reliefs the pressure but then she is uncomfortable. So I have lowered the boards and REMOVED the handle. My question is: has anyone else run into this concern.

Yip, for sure! I also removed the strap that was for the passenger, which I never really knew what that was for anyhow.?.? No safety issues other than the wife not having anything to grab ahold of. I tell her that's what I'm here for!!

You can try to bend them down out of the way. If you take turns hard your DW might feel safer with them on.

Took them off my 2011 right after I bought it. They were hitting the wifes legs (she is on the short side) and have not missed them at all.

My wife is 4'11" and never had any problems with the one on the 2010 Triglide I had, but then I had to make changes in the passenger foot boards to get her legs where they needed to be so they didn't hit the grab handle. IMO they are a safety item, all it takes is someone to turn in front of you and you put on the brakes hard, you may be wearing your back seat passenger.

A few years back I had an old lady turn left in front of me while the wife and I was riding my 2 wheel 06 Ultra. As I hit the brakes hard and started down shifting I expected to feel the wife slam into my back. Afterwards I found out she had seen the situation unfold and grabbed the grab handles. She said her back side came about an inch off of the seat I was braking so hard. Had she not had those handles to grab she would have gone forward and into me causing a bad situation to become a whole lot worse.

As most know, the 2013 Ultra Classic's do not come with a passenger grad rail, so I bought a used one from a forum member. Turns out it was not a stock HD item, I think it may be from Kuryakin. Long story short it's a lot flatter than the stock HD rail. When I bought the 14 TG I switched the rails for the reason stated above, hitting the wife's legs. Works for us.

Wife fits fine .... Added the HD covers 99168-05 which the wife and I both like.
Can pad stock bar with pool noodle or copper pipe insulation.

    These work great http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/159...Passenger-Pegs

Also might try a rear pad for her like an Airhawk R which would raise her slightly.

I have to have them to move my trike around.

Is there any chance you could fine the part number for the "flat rail" that you installed on your MY 2014

Good old mother Harley quit installing them on 2 wheels with the 2006 MY touring. The goofy strap between the passengers legs doesn't cut it IMO. One of the 1st things I did when I took delivery of my 06 Ultra was install the grab handle.

had a set given to me by a friend who's wife did not like them. I put them on my ultra and my wife complained so I took them off. don't know when things changed but she decided they were a good idea. back on they went !

had to get $300.00 set of adjustable pegs to go with them but she is happy for now.

I have these installed on my 2013. Much better than HD stock. Also have the adjustable passenger footpegs. Still have the passenger floor board installed too.

If you do the HD covers 91668-05 it REALLY helps to run a 4-40 bottoming tap through them before trying to put them on.
I think these took the longest of any accessory for me to put on ..... until I grabbed the bottoming tap and then things went smoothly. My wife really likes them and it is easier on my hands while moving the trike into the garage parking spot.

Did you install the HD covers 99168-5 on your 2014? Parts fitment only list to 2013.

Installed the covers on our 14. Thank you HDBOB for the info about the tap that sure did help. It is one of the harder accessories to install. Anyone else doing it put something under the cover when installing, old hands drop stuff and those screws are hard to find on the floor!

Wife really likes them so the extra work was worth it.
