Trike Information

Greetings fellow Trikers!!

I purchased a 2009 HD Triglide last March and like it very much, but I have also experienced paint chipping from the rear section of the Triglide. A very nasty situation to be sure. My trunk did leak and I had the gasket replaced, Now it is bone dry. This was a warranty item and cost nothing. I also own a 2006 Ultra.
Riding two up with the trike is an absolute pleasure and touring with my wife is once again an enjoyable experience.
Now for some questions/observations. Being an avid reader of multiple motorcycle publications I have noticed there are no US generated magazines devoted solely to Trikes. If there are can you please tell me who publishes them and their names? I have also been looking for national Trike Riders associations and Found "Brothers of the Third Wheel" are there any others? Do trike riders have any national rallies. Yes I know trikes show up at Sturgis and all the major rallies, but are there any trike only national rallies? I belong to HOG and wondered why HOG doesn't have a Trike division? We are motorcycles, but not really? It just seems that the more I search the web the more evident it becomes that Trikes are the forgotten children of the motorcycle world. Any information on Trike rallies, tours touring groups and information geared only to trikes would be appreciated. Happy Triking!!

Trike Riders International is another trike group and publishes a magazine.
Its called TRIKES. They also have a web sight, "trikes.org" and a yearly rally.
The next one is in Branson, MO in August, info. also on their web sight.

I think as more TGs are sold, HOG will have to take them into account. I know the Black Mountain Chapter (Henderson, NV) only has three members who ride trikes, and other than I, they aren't that active. That's only 1% of the membership on 3, so naturaly, we're not carered to very much.

Hey Guiderider
Loner here. Cal state director for Brothers of the Third Wheel. We also have a national trike in each year. June 13-18 also in Branson. As a member you will recieve a BTW Triker mag. every other month. You can go to btw-trikers.org for there web site. Look around, meet some nice people and just enjoy. They welcome all types of trikes even me, I ride a Valkyrie that I converted myself. It is a really good family site. Welcome

Interesting subject! I too, like most others here, looked long and hard for trike related publications, magazines, web sites, on and on, ad-nauseum. The 'big two' for three wheelers, mentioned above are TRI, and BTW. However, my first choice on the web is right here at TT . com.
I became involved with TRI early on in my Triking adventures, and, after writing a couple of articles in TRIKES Magazine, am now on the masthead of that publication. However, to get the mag, you must become a member (same with BTW) Recently, I have had some communication with Buzz Kantor, editor of AIM magazine, regarding interest in starting a monthly Trike magazine for interested readers in this rapidly growing segment of motorcycling. Don't know if the state of the economy will allow it, but it's interesting to note that several trike kit manufacturers advertize regularly in AIM. Time will tell. In the meantime, please chack out BTW and TRI, both have great rally's in Branson, where like minded folks can gather and shoot the breeze. Remember also, that TrikeTalk also does an annual informal rally (#3 this year) with no dues, or fees, and don't forget 'Just a triker Group'.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to respond to my post. I appreciate the information and will definately check out the organizations and web sites listed. Life on 3 wheels is 3 times more fun!! Ride safe everyone!!

Now, that's a good one!!

Regarding your paint problem, Yours is not the only one with rear section paint problems, and HD has fixed them, but you are going to have to be firm with your dealer, as they will try to blow some smoke up your coveralls.

HD is the one that seems to be fighting the repair of paint problems. My dad just got done going round and round with a rep from the Moco. Shortly after he took delivery of his 09 Red Hot Sunglow Triglide he mentioned the trunk door didn't match the rest of the paint and it marked easy. When the dealer requested permission to warranty it they were told by the Moco no dice. My dad pushed back and the Owner of the dealer got involved and got the district rep to come out and look at it. After a bunch of prodding by the Owner, Sales mgr and my dad she agreed to replace it. The only catch was my dad was to accept the replacement and allow them to install it whether he liked it or not.
