I've never used 'em but they sure look cool!
I really don't like how chaps look on me. I found these

What cold I get on my legs is usually the lower half. I Thought maybe these would fit the bill.
Anyone have thoughts on these?

As hot as it gets in Kansas in the summer, these would work.
I catch most of the road debris on my shins anyway
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
I wear them in the heat of the summer. Amazing how much stuff hits you lower legs even with the lower fairing.

No experience with half chaps so no help there, but we gave up on the leather chaps and went to these - http://www.coloradochaps.com/. They custom make them to your measurements and they work great. We bought 2 pair in the Basic Nylon material, one fleece lined and the other not lined. I also got the "pipe patches" on mine. These may not make you look any better in chaps, but they are light, easy on and off and you can get to all your jeans pockets with then on and they work great too. Another plus is that 2 pair will pack down into less space than 1 pair of leather chaps.
