Pictures of Freewheeler with Accessories installed

You almost have a rideable trike there:clapping::D. Add some Desert Dawgs on the Highway bar, Driving lights on the front. Stop tail on the back of the sissy and you'll be good to go.:pepper::pepper::pepper: Ride to be seen!!!! P.S. don't forget the tunes. Shark radio will work just fine Mamma might like some arm rests.

Your trike looks great! :10: Good to see what the windshield looks like! Thanks! ThumbUp

Originally the dealer loaned me a Road King tall windshield because all they had in stock for the Freewheeler was a 16" that was way to short for me during the test ride. The Road King shield worked but the Freewheeler specific fits much tighter around the headlight housing and hopefully cuts out some of the wind. Will find out tomorrow if the rain stops.

Harley did not do a good job of getting the accessories lined up before bring out the Freewheeler.

There you go....want'n to make it into a Winnabago.....that 'stock' Freewheeler looks good/just a few accessories, IMO. :(

What rider backrest mount are you using? (Part # if possible).

Look on page 369 of the 2015 HD catalog. The dealer installed P/N 52589-09A bracket and 52572-09A backrest. There isn't a Freewheeler specific riders backrest according to the catalog but I told the dealer I couldn't ride without one so the deal was off. They tried a standard touring backrest bracket and backrest and it fit.

To all: thanks for the positive comments. Now that I have it set up the way I want (almost) I am eager to get on the road. If the rain will just stop!

A few insights: HD really did their customers a disservice by bringing this trike out before they had all of their ducks in a row. The dealers had none of the accessories in stock and didn't know that some of the touring accessories would fit the Freewheeler. Examples are the riders back rest and seats. Another complaints is when I went to install my accessories (the dealer wanted $428.00) some of the bolts were not included for the engine guard and on several bolt holes I had to ream them out because they wouldn't line up. Also, when installing the rear bumper you have to remove the four bolts that hold the trunk body to the frame and replace them with longer bolts that go all of the way through the frame so you can attached the bracket to mount the bumper. One of the original bolts was cross threaded and I had to use a tap to chase the threads before I could install the longer bolt. Not what I would expect from Harley and on a $25,000.00 bike.

Anyway, I still think it is going to be a fun bike and am eager to hit the road.

The FLRT is not alone in this. In 2009 MoCo said the same thing about the Tri Glide. Turned out that the backrest for the Touring bikes did work with the TG. MoCo is not alone in this. Indian owners had a heck of a time getting add-ons at first. Vender issues ect. Less than a year later that has been fixed. If MoCo continues to follow their past they will release an update late spring on what fits (think the Legal Beagles have something to do with not fit line).

If you have the time take a few pictures of the backrest mount for us and post. I've already sent an e-mail to the dealer I purchased letting them know your success of mounting a backrest to the FLRT.

HD seems to do that a lot. My wife has a 2012 FLD (Switchback), and accessories are still difficult to find, three years later. It seems counter-intuitive to their business model of having the customer load-up on accessories after the sale...

Here is a picture of the bracket and the back rest.

WOW, do you think it was your dealer?? Everything I wanted was in stock when I bought my Freewheeler. I chose to ride it the first 1000 miles and have the 'stuff installed at the first service. The passenger backrest and bumper were specifically for the Free, Drivers backrest is the same one for the Tri-Glide (adjustable) Only problem with it, the flat bar for the backrest was designed for a thicker seat. If you put a stock Tri-Glide seat on it, it looks just fine. With the thinner Free seat it sticks up too high (my opinion) I took it off, cut the adjusting bracket off and moved it 3" lower. Welded it back on and cut off the excess. Had to 'adjust' the crash bars a bit, but they were off my '08 Ultra

Sunman,

First, thanks for the info. I have to ask, is this mounted using a stock Freewheeler seat or one of the other Harley seats?

This is the one area I really find lack, seating for the Freewheeler seems limited currently to say the least.

I held off purchasing a rider back rest because I knew I wanted a different seat, other than the stock one, and was not wanting to possibly buy a rider rest I could not use, if I changed seats.

I am hoping that HD and other will release more seating options for the Freewheeler soon......

Everything I installed is specifically for the Freewheeler except the rider's backrest. It is a standard touring backrest and it worked on the stock seat. I have replaced the stock seat with the Freewheeler specific Sundowner seat and the back rest fits fine. The Sundowner seat is OK and will work until there are some good aftermarket seats available like Mustang or Ultimate.

From what the dealer told me there is no Freewheeler specific rider's backrest yet and there is none listed in the 2015 parts catalog.
