Default TPSM ?? or tire pressure system question

This has always bothered me a bit.
As I tend to keep my front tire psi lower then most.
Why do most trike manufactures disconnect this feature??
I have a MT kit. The light still comes on when the trikes started up then goes out.
Ive lowered the psi to almost nothing in the front and it doesn't work at all.
If anything wouldn't it be beneficial to have the front tire of all wheels working??
Is there any aftermarket way to have it made useful again??
Same question with the antilock brakes.
    Mines deactivated there too.

Just wondering why and since I don't know the difference anyway. It really doesn't seem to matter except in my head.

Good Morning Jay. I suspect the TPMS is deactivated because of a compatibility issue with the sender/receiver Honda uses and the ones the trike manufactures can get. There are aftermarket system available if you really want to. As for the ABS - MotorTrike offers an optional rear sensor ring that would have kept the ABS active. My '06 has it although I don't think it has ever been activated.

Sorry for the late response computer issues........again.

    I appreciate your thoughts.
I had read someplace MT offered a way to have the abs activated.
Maybe Ill call Richard and ask if it can be retrofitted.
Or better yet I now have a new MT dealership that's less then a 30 minute ride down here. Im sure, Im partly to blame in a good way for that. I made enough noise as a newbie.
MT needed to be in my area if they wanted to sell product. 3 largest counties population wise in Florida and nearest dealership 140 miles away???
Im sorry to say g-bye to the folks 140 miles away in Lake Placid that are so good you don't really want to change.
    But.....
I will stop by the new guys and have a talk maybe this weekend.

Personally, I could do without the TPM system.

I was told last fall when ordering my Roadsmith for spring installation
that my system will be disconnected.
If that's the case I hope there's a way to shut-off the warning lights completely.

I'll also check with my installer to see if the system can be applied/kept to the front tire only...........

Mike I just finished converting my 2015 last month. There is a jumper that gets installed to kill the TPMS. The initial light still comes on when you turn on the ignition but goes out and that is that. No Warnings.... I don't think you will find a way to retain part of the system. If you are really interested there are aftermarket systems available.

Again, you will LOVE that new Roadsmith !!!!!

My Hannigan kit on my 2012 also disables the TPSM. I think most do.

My CSC Viper on my 2012 has a jumper installed in the plug up front on the right side that kills the rear sensor and keeps the front working. It is part of the CSC kit.

Gary can you give any specifics? I don't have the TPMS front tire on my 2015 any longer but many guys do and might appreciate any info you have. Thanks for the heads up.

    I don't need TPMS, I use a tire gauge.

Imagine doing it the old fashion way............

Just like those oil reminders that pop-up on the dash in the modern trucks/cars that read "Change Oil Soon!"

Thanks Gary! I'll have to save that info.

I had a chance to study that just a bit. The missing information here is what is this provided harness. I'm guessing CSC does not want the world to know. If anyone does have that knowledge and is willing to share it that would be GREAT !!!

If anyone wants, but does not have, a TPMS system, from three years of personal use (riding cross-country twice) I can recommend the "Ride-On SmartCap". It simply screws on to the tire inflator stems and very quietly stays there until the tire pressure drops four lbs. at which time the LED in the cap flashes very brightly and continuously until you add air. Easy to check for correct pressure - just glance at your tires!

    http://www.ride-on.com/smartcap

I am neither employed by nor have any financial interest in Ride-On, but I love their products!

The only thing that might stop me from looking into this more is of all things theft.
I find where I park. Ive even had some of my wheel lugs removed!!!!
Both on my bikes and cars over the years.
Chrome air valve caps have disappeared too...

Not a problem with the Ride-On TPMS. The casual thief won't be able to unscrew the LED caps as a small special tool (provided) is required. Otherwise the caps just turn, and turn, and turn. I keep that little tool on my keychain.

I wouldn't doubt for a minute. Ride - On came up with that tool just for that reason.
    Theft!!
Some miscreants will steal the smallest things.
I still cant believe I had 2 of my wheel lugs taken.
Richard was nice enough at the time to send me them. Knowing my closest dealer was over 140 miles away.
I still tell folks who go Motor Trike?? As in never heard of them.
How good everything about them are.
