    Default Fullsac true duel conversion

My trike is a converted Electra Glide ... and has the split rear cylinder exhaust .... which caused the mufflers to sound strange ..... probably 55-60% comes out the right muffler as proven by sound and exhaust mist in cold weather .... question is has anyone put this on? .... looks easy and cost it great much better than whole new system......

I've never done it, IMO I'm no fan of true duel on a heavy bike or trike. They move the torque to the right (higher rpm) which isn't desirable when trying to get a heavy mass moving. Some of the best bottom end torque short of a 2:1, is produced with the factory head pipe on the 2008 and earlier touring bikes.

I agree withM3 on the 2 into 1 or else the factory type 2 into 1 into 2, but if you wouldreally like to have the true duals I have a set of Rush True Duals off my 2012 TriGlide for sale, ceramic coated with the heat shields. $50and you pay the shipping or $75 and I’ll pay the shipping. PM me if interested.

catalytic converter to make the exhaust less toxic.
Pros of a Dual Exhaust System

    • Increased Gas Mileage: The engine in a dual exhaust vehicle runs more efficiently and with less effort. This is achieved when there is less engine back pressure, and thus less wasted energy. The more efficient the engine, the slower the rate at which the fuel burns, which means that means you don’t have to fill up with as much fuel as you would with a single exhaust system to go the same distance.
    • More Engine Horsepower: Burned engine exhaust gases exit the combustion chamber faster and easier than a single exhaust system because it has two exit pipes instead of one. This increases the engine’s horsepower, which means that the engine is more powerful than a single exhaust system. This horsepower increase is about 20%.
    • Cooler Engine Temperature: The dual exhaust system helps the engine run more efficiently, and therefore, it is cooler than others. This lower temperature and operation efficiency ensures that the engine will last longer than it would in other vehicles.
    • Deeper Exhaust Sound: A vehicle with a dual exhaust system has a deeper, throatier sound to it. Some people prefer this. It even sounds loud and powerful when it is idle. Sometimes people associate a louder sound with better engine performance, but this is not necessarily the case. Sound performance doesn’t have any correlation to the mechanics of an exhaust system.

Cons of a Dual Exhaust System

    • Expense: A dual exhaust system is more expensive than a single exhaust system. This is because it requires additional parts, such as a second pipe.
    • Shorter Lifespan: Since the pipes in a dual exhaust system don’t get very warm, moisture is apt to condense in the exhaust and causes it to rust faster. This means you’ll be replacing the system sooner than you would a single exhaust.
    • Deeper Exhaust Sound: Although some car enthusiasts relish the deep, throaty sound that characterizes a dual exhaust system, you may prefer something quieter. Not everyone wants to draw attention to them when they are driving. If this is the case for you, a louder exhaust sound would be a disadvantage

I did the Fullsac conversion on my 2005 Electraglide Classic CVO with 103 engine. It is cheap and easy to do. I agree with some of the other posters that true duals increase HP but also loose some torque. HP is good for top end, torque is what gets you moving. I ride 2 up a lot so I want the torque. However, I could not tell a lot of difference in the before and after. The bike already had the 103 motor with hi-flo air filter and screaming eagle cams so simply moving from factory stock header system with super trap mufflers to the Fullsac dual system did not provide any real noticeable difference. Didn't notice any change in MPG. Exhaust did have a better sound to me.

A 2:1 is a complete header and muffler, I have a Supertrapp Supermeg on my 06 Ultra. The only problem with putting one on a Trike is fitment, the header won't be long enough so an extension pipe would have to be made. What mufflers are you running right now?

This would apply to a car or truck, not so much a V-Twin motorcycle engine. A duel exhaust system will give you more top end HP, at the expense of moving your torque curve to a higher rpm also. There won't be gas mileage increase, it'll pretty much stay the same as it is now.

One thing to keep in mind when you start making changes on exhaust or air cleaner, you have to be able to tune it. Since you have an 05 it becomes a little more complicated when making big changes.

I'm not one of the pros on here, but I doubt it. Sorry I didn't notice the year of the bike when I posted. Rush website states 09 - 15 year models of TriGlide and Freewheeler. Since I had them on a trike they have the required extension pipe on them. They are a nice setup, but a torque killer, that is why I took them off after 4000 miles and 1 trip out west. Ran a Fulsac X-pipe after I ditched the duals on the 2012 and I'll be running the Fulsac Sportpipe on the new 2015.

Well every thing I see and read say this conversion will increase power and the engine will cool better, because exhaust will exit quicker. One of our guys says torque will change, not sure about that, all I know with true duals the sound will be correct. What do you do to any internal combustion engine to get more performance? headers and dual exhaust? Anyway I ordered it and will put it on, along with my new Dunlop Elite 2 rear tire on the front ..... details after my 12K trip to the Dragon this spring.........

Like I said earlier, don't compare a V-Twin engine to an automotive engine. An automotive engine can afford to give up some low end torque, a V-Twin moving a heavy trike needs as much low end torque as it can get. As for cooling the engine, a good set of mufflers and a tune will also get you there. The factory head pipe on the 99 - 08 Touring is actually one of the best at producing low end torque. Have you decided how your going to tune it once you make this change? It will need fuel and timing adjustments, more than likely it will have some lean spots in the AFR.

Some years back I tried true duels on an 05 Electraglide Classic I used to own, I couldn't stand the increased racket from the exhaust, and the bottom end torque had a big hole in it I couldn't tune out. I ran that set of pipes for about 1,000 miles before putting them on ebay for some other sucker to deal with. I put the factory head pipes back on.
